last time my brake lever (not actually the brake lever...that rubber thingy on the kick gear) fell off, i rode around to workshops see who can fix

unfortunately nobody carried a spare, so in the end lan lan pay $5 they fix one from dunno wat bike. tried a few until one fit into the screw thread

so on hindsight, maybe i should have just bought the part from ah boy then go to my trusted mech ask fix for free (make frens with mechs)

i don't really trust the fixing of parts at LAB - bad experience with tyres

lol. forget it. SP is already a bike that's light. and it has only one disc. save the money on the brembo pump and caliper for something else.

get steel braided brakehose (of course not POSH RACING one lah). maybe can try spiegler, venhill, goodridge, hel (if you're rich) or swage plot (if you're super duper rich like bert)

then get good brake pads.. and i believe your braking will be good enough.

and a 40bux difference between the hel lines and the plot lines makes one say that you're super duper rich. wow.

anyway i kinda agree that the stock caliper/levers are more than enough. change your lines, brakepads and service your calipers before thinking about changing to slightly better ones ^^

sorry a bit :offtopic:

for those of u who wanna make your sp "fly" or regular servicing, can try brother motors.

Been going to their shop for servicing for quite a while, which was last time at yishun SPC. They have now relocated to Yishun industrial PArk A Blk 1017 #01-262.

I understand that because they were forced to suddenly leave yishun spc without notice, not many pple knew where these experienced mechs had moved to.

Basically been doing servicing for my SP since the day i got it. They do things swee swee one, almost everytime help u adjust stuff n fix acessories FOC. After servicing they make it a pont to hand wash the bike for free also. They specialise from small bikes to big ones. rare bikes like Cagiva they also know.

This is a shop which i rate 9/10 because they dun chop pple, gd after service n worksmanship and veri friendly. Come and c for yourselves, n u'll see that wad i say is true. The 2 mechs are: Ah Tat and Ah Beng.

can contact them at 96432540/91877136

it wont spoil lah. u put to ON and put to RES the difference is when it is ON and the engine runs out of petrol u still have the reserve to get u to the petrol station but if it is RES and the engine runs out of petrol then u happy push bike.

hello. was directed by someone to come here for questions on my honda sp. hope you all can help.

help

thanks!

hello! i've been riding my honda sp for a while now. and i know nuts about maintaining my bike. any tips that you riders out there can give me?

all i know is what i've heard from friends or read from forums. maybe you all can give me some clarification?

1) heard you should send your bike for servicing at motordiam every 3 mths like tt? what do they do for you and how much does it cost? any difference between this and 'FULL' servicing?

send it for a major full service (top overhaul) every 30,000km if you love your bike. change the gasket, piston ring, clean the chamber, wash the carburettor, change gear oil, do some tuning, etc. spark plugs can change once every 10,000km, and actually i don't really see the need to wash carburettor if u have your air filter there. how dirty can a carb get???

2) how often do you have to lube & clean your chain? heard it's 1 wk?

u lub once a week is ok, remember to clean off the dirt too, some pple find it too troublesome, so they do it once a month, some dont ever bother because they got full chain guard (like me haha). u take care of your chain well it will serve u a long time, if u dont take care of it well then maybe a while it will spoil then u got to change it again.

3) the uncle at the shop i got my motor from told me to spray wd40 at all the moving metal parts? is this to lube it or to prevent rust?

lousy WD40 is a chemical compound that dissolves away the rust and exposes new metal beneath to more rust. good WD40 (those more advanced formulas) dissolves away the rust and forms a new chemical layer out of this rust to protect the metal beneath (but it will still continue to rust). WD40 removes rust around moving metal parts such as side stand and footpeg so that u have a easier and smoother time putting them up or down but definitely not the eingine parts which are metal and also moving.

4) what can i do to maintain the bike on my own?

once a week lub chain, don't wack too hard, clean and wash it if u want, do the daily pre-ride checking as advised when u learning 2B, thats about all you can do on your own.

please help and discuss and i hope that this thread can be a guide to any new or less experienced riders out there(like myself).

thanks alot!! cheers!

100km/h to 0km/h in 1 sec will land u in the mortuary! wat hospital... u study physics? u know how much momentum and force is that??

anyway, i do recommend steel braided brake hoses (becos the rubber ones become brittle after time) but NOT brembo brake pads and calipers. wat? u riding a 1998cc WRX STi? i always say this again and again: u want good braking power, u must have good tyres too, otherwise they'll just lock and u'll fly. and considering that SP is such a light bike, at 160km/h, u dont really need to brake that hard for the wheels to lock and u kiss the tarmac. and kissing the tarmac at 160km/h in open face helmet, t-shirt, jeans, slippers and no gloves is not something u can try and then survive to tell the tale.
