hi all, i have a question to ask, my sp has harsh vibrations when at 4500rpm to 5000rpm, but it ceases at about 6000rpm, is it normal? i heard tat it is normal, is it true? and are all ur SPs 80km/h at 5000rpm? thanks.... newbie here

the vibration should be very normal. all sp have 1 la lol. 80km at 5k rpm will have to depend on sprocket ratio bah rite? correct me if im wrong.

omg.... the bike shop told me to run in for 1500km.... and ask me not to go pass 80/kmh which is at 5000rpm.... so many different advices which should i stick to?[/b]

The safest way is to travel not exceedin the speed of 100km/h for the rest of your life..Ahaha..

ermm.. run in best is 3000km... and not exceeding 90km/hr... after 1500km.. u can try running in wif this method... but mus be on long distance travel on expressway.. stay at 90km/hr for 5kms.. then increase to 100km/hr for another 5 kms... cont doing so for the nxt 1000kms... last 500km try to start wif 100km/hr then increase to 110km/hr..

for me.. i uses tis method taught by my fren.. n found it quite useful... anyway.. i completed my 3000km within 2 wks... =] kinda hard thou... everyday 3/4 tank of petrol of sometimes 1 full tank.. jus keep going out wif frens , best is travel to far places

revenge: IMO i feel that 500km not exceeding 6k RPM will do.

gorgonitz82: wah your SP upgrade to a Mito alr! :D

friedfishz: depends if she's using racing footrest or stock footrest. stock should be less than $50 for a set of footrest. if racing footrest would be $75 for a set of chiong yoshimura footrest. both at LAB.

i should think stock would be cheaper than racing footrest (the stock is not totally original though. most likely made in thailand by ah boy himself). although below 50 is just a guess, but it should not cost as much as $120 :giddy:

you didn't read his question carefully.

he asked for the best and safest running in procedure.

I did read his qustion carefully..

And i did answer his question from the best of my knowledge...

I strongly believe tat if he just change onli new piston... dun need to run in for so long etc:(700km-1000km) its just keep him a peace of mind if he run tat long..

in the first place if the new piston does not fit in properly the engine already give u weird sound...

runing in the piston to let the piston wall and piston ring go smoothly agains cylinder wall... so how long do u need tat?? i can say very fast... 100km enough!

tats why he 1 safer way i say 300km...

if really scare piston cease...

dun ride fast loh...

ride max rpm 7 forever...

sorry! if i am rude to you on tis topic!

maybe lo. but since geylang area (which is near ah boy), she could have got a friend to fetch her to ah boy and buy the footrest and fix herself |:

wahh! if block head damage, den siao liao. =\

den ask u all, whether can change the conrod and the conrod bearing only??

if the block head damage ur block and piston also siao liao....

Can! u r not wrong...

but.. since u need to drop ur engine to take out ur crankshaft for the replace of con-rod and bearing.. might as well u change the whole engine bearing and oil-seal.. if not next time u have to drop ur engine again for another bearing or oil-seal replacement...

since its the workmanship tat cost you more then the small small bearing and oil-seal...

I agree wif 9 ppl will agree wif you..

but... ur way is not wrong also...

Who the F*** will said run in more will cause damage to the bike?

i am just saying i give sufficient run-in to the piston... and enjoying the best compresstion tat the brand-new pistion-ring gave..

Not when the pistion ring leak....

I am not shooting you back by the above mention!

the last time my sp gear lever broke, i changed the entire rider footrest + bracket at $15, courtesy of Lim Ah Boy. it was a 2nd hand footrest that he probably got from a scrapyard for free.

to top it up, the pillon footrest + bracket was only $7 (brand new from his own factory)

dont worry you are not rude...

i have to agree with your explanation. it is perfectly correct.

but i think he will know who to look for if his piston jams again at 301km...

hahaha!

dun worry.. if something go wrong... dun need to wait till 301km...

piston can cease within 100km... :)
