Hi Johndoe,

 

You pm-ed me a question about sprocket ratios. I thought it'll be good to share with everyone here on the main page. Yes, your sprocket ratios is what determines [usually] whether you have a good pickup and crappy top end or a smooth top end and a screwed up pickup. The engine drives the front sprocket which usually has 13-18 teeth which then drives the rear sprocket which has 34-50 teeth. stock sp sprocket setting is 14-40 ie. front sprocket 14 teeth rear sprocket 40 teeth. this gives a ratio of 3.077 : 1 which is the stock sp sprocket ratio. if you play with this ratio, say you change to a bigger rear sprocket, say size 44, you will get a ratio of 3.143 : 1. this number is bigger than the stock ratio number so it means you will get better pickup at the expense of your top end. if you do a smaller rear sprocket, say size 37, your ratio then drops to 2.643 : 1 which screws your pickup but gives you more top end. generally, the smaller the number, the better the top end and vice versa.

congx: ok set! i chut spec3 fbc plate.. haha.. then flykite will laugh at me, why pay so much when spec1 is cheaper and similar in performance? haha..

 

if you compare spec3 with spec1, it becomes fairly justifiable. you get several more years on the COE, HISS, nice tailights on the spec3 that you can't get on the spec1.

 

congx: my spec1 can cruise on the highway at 6th gear at 110km/h almost 7,000rpm the vtec still havent open yet!

most of us usually go to xing hock.. it's just beside the first eating place. KHM or Xing Hock Motor. look for ah jie.. say samuel's friend, maybe got special discount. haha! i changed my size 5 dry cell batt for 50+RM.. it's bigger than SP's stock size 3 batt.. pretty affordable.

hi guys. my bike just got stripped by some *******. my friend was using my bike and park his bike in his multi-storey carpark. today when he check the whole bike was stripped. the fairing, brakes, mirrors, seats whatever also gone... my friend stays in tampines... wtf man... i in uk also dunnoe what to do... somemore my insurance is 3rd party insurance so dun cover thief.

so you meant after your friend used your bike and parked it at his place, it got stripped of all the fairing, seat, etc? |: ouch. gonna cost a bomb to replace everything eh.

jb more worst they is steal whole bike lolz.at sg buy the head and tail ride to jb buy the rest lo.must report police and nag them call them petrol the area more often.haha
