Hi guys n the feisty gals in here, have a question to ask. I notice that when I follow the traffic like a car (ie i dun squeeze in between cars), my engine temp gauge heats up to 3/4. But when i do pick up speed, the temp goes down. My coolant tank is at almost full when I checked so what could be the problem... My engine is acting like its air cooled instead of water cooled. Does anyone else experience this?

 

Oh btw, anyone going for the NBW? Im thinking whether to sign up for the convoy. Have the form already but havnt fill up and send in. And I have a suggestion.. maybe can organise an outing during the NBW. That would be fun.

SP is a sports bike.. meant to go fast, so engine cannot take it if hang there too long, have to go fast, but also depend on which gear you are at.........

when is your last time u flash your coolant? I follow traffic all the time, about 80 to 90, temp below 1/2, unless real slow like 50-60 will get higher. if jam i squeeze liao haha. anyway its normall if u pick up speed and temp does down, our coolant still get cooled down by air and the temp meter is measuring out coolant temp if im not wrong

haha depends la.. some bikes their radiator and coolent is still working very efficiently then the sp will usually be damn cool. for my case 95% of the time i riding the temp is like a few mm above the letter C wanna make it hot also hard lol.. took me quite a long jam to get it to half of temp meter

hmm its norm.. thts why we go jb if jam muz off bike push.. tech wise i dun rly noe how to explain.. smtg lyk u noe e radiator in front got tht square sheet with many holes? when u riding, air will pass thru n cool ur radiator.. if u jam den v long nvr move, ur coolant stil flowing i tink.. but no air passing thru.. den stil will get hot.. so u cant stay behind cars too long if jam i guess

yea actually the FINAL submission in monday la. but considering i gotta go print e postcards plus im making the postcard stand and magnets too, quite a lot to be done. i can edit the photos a bit myself. but i guess i need sum1 more pro to just make it look lyk a gd postcard.. smtg tht will grab attention n pass e msg on clearly, need a 2nd opinion & 2nd "eye"

I just got my bike from another guy so don't knw when he flushed. Got it for a mth + already but havnt went to svc or flush yet. But I hav only rode it for a few hundred km so shldnt need to go in as prev owner just had it fully svced. And yah, the temp only goes up when I crawl along at 50-60. when I go up to 80-90 the temp goes back down abit. Sometimes no choice, have to follow my friend's car cos duno the way and suay suay kena jam.

Yah mine too. Normal riding on highway or clear roads meter never goes more than 1/4 temp. Actually I also notice Blackstar7's quote increase every post. Avg abt 1 or 2.

Oic, I learn something new again. Thanks for the info. Din know that coolant still need the air to cool it down. And also now I know that before going JB must listen to radio first.

I was freaked out because in a car, once temp meter go above half the engine is as good as gone so when I see my bike temp gauge go to 3/4 I freak out liaoz. Haha.
