Insurance i think cheapest is Mitshu 3rd Party.. i just pass and am 20 this year my insurance is $318..

 

Wheels 100% must change but if u buy at bike shop they got to change for u and if they nv dun buy.. if they change ask for TT900 GP made in japan de..

 

if u really need to change ur tyre, i think should be around 170 bah.. i just changed at HKL front and back for $170.

 

Kata can go LAB buy chiong Yoshimurai Racing kata.. $80 nia still can bagain..

 

Condition wise u must ask old timers to go with u if not ill be like me... got a "kan pua log" de bike.. Luckly i go back my bike shop kpkb then they do a service for me..

hey guys when my bike is on idling speed right. periodically there will be this knock knock sound from the engine leh, my uncle once commented that the block is noisy. any experienced SP rider can explain to me what is that and if it's going to be a problem? how to rectify it? i scared piston jam leh, sounds real bad to get a piston jam.

i think u need to service yur clutch plate

or yur idiling is at 1000

tune to 1.2 to 1.5

i saw someone in the forum selling his FQ plate sp at around this price, issit that bike you talking about? if it is so, the the coe should end at around 2008, which mean around 3 years left.

 

Katar is the footrest where your feet will rest on, basically just get a simple original sp footrest can liao, dont need get racing yoshimura footrest so expensive unless you really want such a good footrest lah.

 

The market price of sp is around there loh, FQ plate 1.7k is ok lah, if his condition not too bad then i think can take loh. But best is get someone experienced to go down view with you. As for insurance, it should cost around 350 - 400 for you.

 

As for servicing, it shouldnt be too expensive as parts of sp are quite cheap and easily available unless its expensive parts like piston

This is a very common problem for sp. Its due to your clutch plate and clutch housing. Basically you can just ignore it as even if you change the clutch plate and housing, the problem will come back in a few months. Therefore no worries, and i doubt it will cause a piston jam

 

but if you wanna be on the safe side, then bring it for a checkup

i think the main problem would be adjusting to the speed as when in school, you never had a chance to hit above 70kmph. I would recommend you to have friends that are also riding to accompany you go collect bike, at least got someone lead the way for you and take care of you. If not, just go slow and stay in 2nd or 3rd lane for a start, try to avoid the 1st lane unless you feel you up to it loh

oh i just changed my clutch plates last december so i think it's still kinda new ba. oh now i feel better liao. phew. i thought it's the problem with the engine. thanks for the information!

relax lah brother, i think most important u should plan ur route first, see the street directory and learn how to go from the shop to ur house lor, liddat u won't kan chiong spider when on the road.

 

i remember the day i got my SP in hougang then i ride back to NTU liao. haven reach expressway at jalan eunos already got traffic jam. haha practise clutch control liao. :sweat: cuz i scared to squeeze between traffic with the rest of the bikers.

 

however once on the expressway it's much better liao. i find expressway easier to ride than normal roads man. just ride at a confortable pace lor, stay away from 1st lane? hope my 2 cents help!

u know how to travel by expressway to yr place or not

i remember that i had a nicer time riding alone expressway on the day i collected my bike than i was on normal small roads

cause small roads need to stop alot of time for traffic light zebra crossing etc then my clitch handling was damn sucky..ended up engine keep dying

Ya expressway is actually better. When I first got my ride, dun dare go expressway too...now it's opposite. There no traffic lights, no uncle/auntie dashing across road, lanes are wider, etc.
