hi alex wat is break in

is it e same meaning as run in?

i oso remembered this 80kmh for 800km rule...this 1 last time bike shop teach me 1

thank u

but why do we need to change engine oil ah...i tot it is for e 4 strokes only?

me still riding sp

break in is like hard run in...

using high rpm to run in...

some say gd some say bad..

not very sure...

the run in part is to let yr piston ring sit nicely between yr block and piston..

normally break in is for big cc bike eg. a litre bike..

we need to change engine oil (in this case is gear oil for sp) to get rid of the small metal waste from the new piston ring or even parts in the engine..

u dun want the metal waste to get struck into some place and spoilt yr bike.. eg. scratches yr piston or block...

no matter 4 or 2 strokes bike oso need engine oil.. onli diff grade... for yr bike is gear oil..

when running in, use mineral base engine oil is better.. after the run in phase is over then use gear oil..

Erm... in 2 stroke bikes the piston is lubed by 2T, not gear oil. Gear oil is used to lubricate the gears just like what its name says.

No matter what model of bike you are riding, it still uses pistons to convert the heat to kinetic energy.. For 2 strokers, the debris from the running-in of the piston will be expelled together with the waste gases. For 4-strokes, the debris will be present in the engine oil until you replace it.

If you changed your gear teeth too.. then that's a different story. Otherwise just keep below a nominal rpm of about 5-6k for about 1000km(Up to own preference) and you should be fine.

er....

how sure the deris will go to the combustion section and not the gear section??

the piston is moving up and down, therefore there is 2 diff direction shear force acting on the ring...

is true some will go wif the waste gas but some still stay wif the gear oil...

gear oil visocity is much higher...

for 2t visocity is much lower...

if the visocity is too high, more shear force will be produce...

as a result 2t is there to lube the piston rather than gear oil..

The piston area is separated from the gears in 2 stroke bikes. Otherwise your gear oil will be burnt together with 2T already..

I think http://www.howstuffworks.com can explain much better

i noe wat u mean liao...

but u will notice the rings will fall below the input then the deris from the lower rim go where?? in the section where the con rod and the shaft located??

the 2t is to lub the wall of block onli or more??

the bearings connecting the con rod and piston lub by wat??

i thought normally ppl nv change front sprocket one. only change to either bigger or smaller rear sprocket.. in this case 17 should be standard for front right?

if change 38 more top end, but less pick up? anyone using this experienced better mileage?

there is a formula for the spocket ratio one..

i kinda forget the detail theory...

i onli remember that stock sp hav ratio of abt 3

the best is able to get nearest to 3..

for example, rear 39 divided by front 13 is 3

if u use 41 rear divided by 13 u get 3.15....

wat u hav, pick up...

the detail one i kinda forget le.. paiseh..

ok..hmm wateva it is, SP during run in dont have to change engine oil

dun haf to keep at 4k rpm too

e correct way is to maintain below 8k rpm for first 1000km, no full throttle allowed

for 1000km to 1600km, max rpm 10k, minimal full throttle motions

after that you're done!

UNHAPPY with shell?

Take your money elsewhere then. I did.
