Hi all, I am sharing my personal usage of Kerosene on my bike since 2006. The Kerosene use is those found in DIY shops, usually in bottles and they are relatively cheap.

To clean:

1) I use Kerosene to degrease my chain. Chain will be kerosene, rinse and dry. Lube it well and its as good as a new chain. Amount use: 100% kerosene.

2) Engine compartments and rims: Amount use: 40% Kerosene,10% soap/liquid detergent and 50% water. Clean as new!!

To flush the engine:

1) I use Kerosene to mix with my oil engine and flush all the grims and grease inside before an engine oil change. Amount use: 1 liter of engine oil, 200ml of Kerosene. Mix while the engine oil is in slight warm condition, let it run for 2 mins and flush it out. Replace with new engine oil. Feels the renewed power!

Me scared to use kerosene as engine flush :(

Its a safe practice as long as you know the ratio mixture. The established engine flush brands are all kerosene based.

wah fierce sia use kerosene to flush. if ur bike oil changes are diligently done, i highly doubt flush is needed. synthetics nowadays dont sludge up easily. just my opinion. :)

Yes, I always change my engine oil at 1500km intervals however its a difference when u flush them out once in a while.

Wah!!! Later the kerosene ignite, catch fire the engine explode!!!! :faint:

Hahaha!! That is what I thought too however after homework and consulting the experts from students of engineering, I gave it a try and yeah! its safe.

kerosene need a certain build-up pressure in order to ignite..

one gd example is to light up a pressure lamp for camping purposes..

kerosene as an engine flush? will it affect the clutch material? will it affect the ability of the oil to cling to metal parts? is it necessary at all to flush a bike engine at a first place?

i read that for bike, they flush it with high-detergent engine oil will do.

@SPINERGY Besides using kerosene to clean the rims, do you use it to clean the sides of the tyres to restore the deep black colour? Or what do you recommend to clean tyres?
