I myself bought a first hand, so didn't go through the same path, but i had thought of getting a pre-owned bike myself previously. And these are my personal thoughts.

 

• fork alignment (visually check if forks are aligned and not dented)
  
• rims of tyres (not cracked or chipped)
  
• handle bar (straighten)
  
• signal lights, headlights, all the lights for that matter
  
• brakes (brake is responsive)
  
• mileage (high mileage means got higher risk of it having old parts that needs replacement, which will incur extra cost)
  
• 
  

 

These are what i can think off hand, there are pros in here which might have other thoughts.

 

Anyway, try to ride it and feel for its quality.

Lol Mel, I kanna from east to west loh. Everyday wear raincoat to work plus shoe wet wet.

Check for tire condition ($150), brake pad ($35-40 per side), rear suspension ($200), any cracks on rims

Check with owner when the last time belt servicing was done($200).

 

The other should be more cosmetic ^^

Can someone please urgently advise where to get the rack for BOX for my GTS 200 and how much $$$ ?

 

I am using a GIVI now but the iron is corroding. I saw the ones used by some GTS 200 owners- thinner but better looking. Where did you buy those?

Problem?

Does anyone experience juddering/jerking when moving off from about 20-30kmh with light throttle after just slowing down? What I mean is like slowing down from say 60kmh to about 20kmh then speeding up again slowly? Feels like the clutch is not engaging properly or slipping.....

Anyone experience this?

 

Just wanted to share my experience.

 

Had same problem- wanted to do a carb wash but decided to just use GAS TREATMENT ( a red bottle you can buy from GIANT HYPERMART or petrol station

 

Try at your own risk.

I feel it's more of a clutch/gearbox issue, not carb/fuel. But the fuel cleaner additive is good for periodic cleaning nonetheless.

Same thing is happening to me. I changed clutch (280) and the problem was gone for a week. After that i changed variator (another 280). Now the jerking is reduced a lot.

 

Sometimes the jerking comes back. But it's not as big and bothering as it was. So i just leave it as it is.
