SINGAPORE - A motorcyclist, who said he collided with a large sambar deer that he alleged was dashing across Upper Thomson Road, is taking the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the National Parks Board (NParks) to court for negligence.

Mr Muhammad Aliff Mohd Jeferee, who had head, shoulder and leg injuries, is seeking damages from both statutory boards for the accident at 9.45pm on Sept 21 last year.

Hope the rider is safe. Always be on the lookout and practice Defensive Riding techniques!

Do you think the rider will be awarded a settlement by NParks and LTA?

The wild are not owned by the agency so not sure how the claim can be awarded.

But if the cause is by the redevelopment of the inner forest and causes the wild to make shift than there maybe a valid point. Not forgetting the rider is not the first in his/ her incident here.

There are deer oh the roads in Singapore now??? It was just wild boars and i remember going along Upper Thomson and finding them on the road side foraging for food. Where did those deer come from? hahaa... Soon we'll need to get tags to hunt those deer for meat. I've encountered wild animals crossing roads overseas but it sure will be interesting to see them here in Singapore.

Just need to be aware of wild life even in Singapore now I guess. Looking forward to seeing those "Deer crossing" signs soon.

Had also witnessed a monkey dash across Lornie h/way (unsuccessfully). A car didn't stop/evade it in time. Fuess we need to be extra alert on the roads, especially those surrounding the nature reserves.

Devil's bend at Upper Thomson is another place where there is wildlife always dashing across the road, very dangerous for motorcyclists!
