Hi all,

Taking my 2B TP next week and also planning ahead if things go in my favour, will want to get a 2nd hand ExMotion from carousell.

I have done my own crash course through countless articles and videos on what things to look out for when doing the inspection, won’t really be asking this here. But feel free to add in if you have any quirky checks or things which might be good to look out for.

Few questions I would like to ask any experienced ones here:

- Apart from the physical bike and (I assume 1 ignition key), what are things which should the previous owner to handover upon transaction? (I’m thinking physical owners manual, spare ignition key(?))

- Duration for entire process of physical meetup to saying goodbye with deal completed? (1 day possible if all good? Morning head down to physical check and test ride if possible, agree and settle on the spot, Onemotoring transfer ownership, paynow full cash)

- follow up to previous question, if possible to deal on the deal itself: How long for insurance to be settled? I assume insurance will need to be tied to the bike plate.

Thanks all :)

Went thru this 8 years back (bought from direct owner), so share my experience. But do note that I paid full cash (no loan), so was more straight forward.

The owner apparently had 2 keys which he pass along to me. Mine was an old bike, so no manual. You'll need to ask but even if there is, it'll be maintenance manual (not repair manual).

My experience was test ride was not possible. Seller highlight insurance concern. Maybe he worried I will ride off with the bike.

Insurance needs about 3 days. Yes, tied to license number. You want to purchase with the start date as the date you take possession of the bike (in my case, it was the day we met at LTA to transfer ownership).

Then is the process of transferring to your name at LTA. I met him outside LTA on day of transfer. Gave him 1K after enter LTA and took a Q number (this I mentioned on the phone when I confirm the deal with him a few days after viewing. Told him no deposit, will be full cash on day of transfer). After transfer, he pillion me to the nearby ATM to withdraw the balance. He left by bus/taxi and I rode off with the bike.

PS: Before paying any deposit, you may want to have a look at the documents from LTA to make sure seller actually owns the bike. Also, check if it's fully paid up. Seller should be able to show proof it's fully paid up if it was on hire purchase.

Don't rush...

But mine was pre-Covid experience. Maybe some rules have change.

Ty for sharing!

Undertaand that now ownership transfer can be done online instantaneously so not as troublesome already. But do you know if insurance process got faster? :D

understand about the test ride and insurance stuff. Was thinking at least possible to ride around the carpark at Low speed (~20km/h) to see if anything vibrating more than it should be, is it legal Actually?

Great point on checking if bike is already fully paid up, will keep that in mind.

You will need insurance to transfer the bike to you.

Yes all can be done online through OneMotoring, just log in with your SingPass.

URL here: https://onemotoring.lta.gov.sg/content/onemotoring/home.html

Support our sponsor @DirectAsia Insurance and and click on any of the banners to purchase your insurance. Yes you will need the bike number plate. Once you have purchased, it will give you a policy number which you can key in to complete the transfer of the bike to you.

From meeting the seller to inspection to transact online, all can be done in half hour to 1 hour, no need an entire day.

The process is:

Meet seller -> View and inspect bike -> Agree on price -> You purchase insurance -> Seller log in to LTA / OneMotoring to start transfer process to you -> You log in to LTA / OneMotoring accept the transfer and key in the insurance policy number -> Make full payment (cash?) to the seller

Done.

Good luck for your TP and ride safe!

usually 2 ignition keys.. but seller could have lost his.. usually no manual nowadays.. all software already.. go look for exmotion fb group.. I believe it's CB150?

entire duration for my experience was about 1 hour(viewing) 1 hour (transfer and take)? confirm lesser then 4 hours.. hahah.. unless you dealing at night and insurance website got issues.  Paynow might have limitation for transfer or transfer limit.. better check with your bank first..

Cannot test ride but you can start the bike and listen for the sounds.. ask your fb group if they have any WhatsApp group and can start to ask them for "views" and hear it.. see if anyone is around the place where you are viewing..

indeed..

but no test ride allowable.. just send video to your WhatsApp group for CB150 or get any CB150 owners to go down with you... :)

actually any rider is ok.. cuz if owner see you got friend with you.. they more "worried".. :)

My process is:

Meet seller -> View and inspect bike -> Agree on price -> You purchase insurance -> Make full payment (internet banking) to the seller ->Seller log in to LTA / OneMotoring to start transfer process to you -> You log in to LTA / OneMotoring accept the transfer and key in the insurance policy number
