Hello!

I am looking for any of the following (some for myself, some for family) and hope you laojiaos (experienced people) can give me some pointers where to start my shopping or my research.

I have some modest experience with riding bicycles, so pardon me if I don’t know the correct terms. I rode bicycles a lot when studying abroad but have rarely ridden bicycles ever since. I am middle class and have an average budget in mind. For instance, I think $200-$500 is acceptable to spend on the average adult mountain bicycle. I am not one of those pros who might spend $200 on bicycle shoes, for instance, but neither will I buy a bicycle from Giant.

1) Would like to find a trailer or towed cart for a bicycle to put children of different ages (1-7) inside

2) A pushed cart for putting children inside (ie not for bicycles – more like joggers) would also be welcome

3) Where to get SAFE mods done for adapting a bicycle to accommodate children of 1-7? Most of the HDB shops don’t give me confidence with their ad-hoc work, but the specialty shops are really expensive.

Someone once told me that the average bicycle rear wheel rack is only rated to support 7-10kg, so putting a 20kg primary school kid on it is too much.

One, its not safe, especially in Singapore to put your children in a tow cart behind your bicycle. I know what you mean, and I've seen plenty of those tow carts for bicycles in USA. We also do not have the kinda kerbs and drain covers that is suitable.

Two. You are refering to those big 3-wheeled prams that has difficulties fitting into the boots of any car in Singapore. They even have standing attachments that children can stand on while their parents jog and push the prams. So technically, a parent can push a pram with one baby, one toddler and one child while jogging.

Three. Considering how some of us remembers being ferried around on those no gears fitted bicycles and bamboo seats. You might want to get back to the good old days and use those. And look around please, there are plenty of folks that are still ferrying their 45kg kids on bicycles before and after school. On electric bicycles too. You are probably hanging around at the wrong neighbourhood and thinking way too one direction regards to your choice of bicycling your kids around.

How many of us remember those type of 3wheeled bicycles with ferrying goods in front type? And how many of us from the kampongs has a elder sibling or neighbour always pedal and we all climb on board for fun rides? Nowadays, we can only see Trishaws ferrying tourist at Bugis....
