There is a spec called High Temp/ High Stress (HTHS) carried out at 150degC to measure the shear resistance of the oil and probably best reflects the durability of the oil in practice. The 5W50 ultra is a very high 4.85cP. Redline is 4.6cP and Motul 300V is 4.28cP. This is consistent with many user reports, including some of your fellow fazer riders, that the thinner motul usually lasts 3~4k. In fact most will agree that the only 300V good for longevity (>5k) is the 15W50 Competition.

 

Few 40 grade oils can actually do the 5k mark without significant drop in slickness and viscosity if ridden at high rpm regularly in a class 2 bike, and in my honest experience so far, the thin Ultra 5W50 is the only one that can last like a heavyweight 50 oil (15W50, 20W50) in my R6, which is very hard on oil due to small sump and high rpm. I have used quite a few fully syn oils, silkolene, motorex, mobil, amsoil, repsol even delvac 1 (a highly rated heavy duty fleet oil), all will go 4k+ max.

 

Many other things do affect the shift performance like chain lubrication and tension and I myself have been faked many times thinking an oil is getting shot, only to have it become silky smooth again after lubing and adjusting the chain. Not saying this is the case, but it is nevertheless a possibility, or perhaps it just unique to your bike. Clutch plate wear also does funny things to shifting, I know of a friend's bike that could not shift with thinner oils when hot. Too bad you don't have your bike already, if not I will sponsor some factoryline to see if your 7k feat is repeatable. I do not know of any factoryline 5W40 user who claim such milage. Even the motodiam people tell me it is not good for longevity. Chatted with Shah of biketech, he too says the thin motuls are good for 2~3k max. He's running Ultra now, no complaints yet. I look forward to more feedbacks so that I can learn more user experiences

I myself was very impress by the motul,as everyone I kw told me tat it will nt last,the most is 2-3k of useage only.

 

I am nw using the extra 15w 50,so lets see hw many kms of abuse can it take.

 

By the way,if I use the FP-60,hw much must i pour into my full tank of 3.9L to get the best out of it?

I dont think that is the main issue, as long as ex owner does take care of the maintenance religiously...what the point of taking say a 10000 miles bike but was trash and rape by the owner big time...
