Keeping the stock tyres cos its not the Z4's. Its Michilins Pilot Road which are better than the Z4 but not as good as Z6.

v hard. but i not done anything to setup the suspension yet. only set the rear preload to softest nia. need to understand what each setting means and affect. or maybe i'll bring to a shop and let them setup for me the static sag. 1 person quite lecheh and lazy.

recommended preload is 1/3 of the spring length when with full load... or is it 1/4...

 

compression and rebound is more of a ride and feel if its comfortable type of thing... so just adjust accordingly until you like the feeling of how the forn and shocks work...

you know, like using what kinda oil at various stages?

ideally:

50-100km, change oil and filter (mineral) - diy

800km change oil and filter (mineral) - agent

1600km change oil and filter (mineral) - diy

3000km change oil and filter (fully syn) - agent

every 5-10k change oil (fully syn), alternate oil filter - diy

 

so far i never managed to follow. first night alone clock like 60-80km liao. then never buy oil. 2nd day also never buy oil. 3rd day finally bought oil but cannot loosen engine sump nut.

 

today finally did my first oil change @ 365km.

considering that i'm doing nearly 100km everyday (~75km to-fro work), from now until after the LWE i'll have clocked ~2.2k liao when i next bring it in for service. so i'd have missed 1 service unless i bring tools, oil and filter to change in cameron...

 

so far i've been using motul 300v on my old ride. but think i'll give fuch silkolene pro 4 plus a try this time.

mineral oil is not semi-syn. in fact mineral oil is less refined and provides less lubrication than semi-syn. go do a search on engine oil bible and read it. good stuff.

 

engine oil is a sensitive topic. some swear by x, some by y, others by z. even for fully syn there are different grades. some fully syn are "hydrocracks". according to reports, etc. ester based oils (currently) have the most desirable properties and i only know of motul 300v, fuch silkolene pro 4 plus (no plus think also), and maxima extra (think ultra also) that uses 100% ester base stock.

 

other than that there're other chemicals/agents in the mixture giving various properties like for smoothness, for protection, for longevity, for acid neutralisation, etc. there's probably no best oil around. some give more protection but lower usable life. some lesser protection but can last longer. the comparison goes on and on.
