Advice needed for Dragstar

I am riding Dragstar 400, the bike is about 14 years old.

 

Recently, the battery drains very fast, when i throttle, the charger sometimes come on, sometimes doesn't (i measure using multi-meter). The headlamp also comes on and off intermittently. So i suspect charging coil problem and possible short somewhere.

 

Am looking for a mechanic that will help me troubleshoot the problem and fix it.

 

Any good recommendation, please?

sounds like a stator coil short.
