Hi folks,

I own a Ducati here and will be moving to the UK soon, so instead of selling it I was wondering how difficult and expensive it is to export it to the UK. Has anyone done that before? How much are the import charges in the UK?

Alternatively.. anyone wants a Ducati Monster S4?

I've done it back in 1990, exported a VFR400 to Greece. Also on the same year exported a ZRX750 as well. If the bike is brought brand new tax free then might make sense. If the bike is already registered here, it will not make sense. The main reason is that you have already paid the import taxes in Singapore and now you are going to pay import taxes is UK. Ain't worth it.

My VFR400 cost me much more higher than if I had bought it 2nd hand in Greece. On the ZXR750 saved abt S$5000. Purchased the bike tax free at S$9000, freight abt S$2000, import taxes in Greece and registration abt S$2000, total cost S$13,000. At that time the price for brand new ZXR750 in Greece was approx S$18,000. However keep in mind that was back in 1990.

For exporting a bike that is already on the road is very easy. All you need is just to deregister the bike.

My opinion is that sell the bike here at discount it will make more sense. Unless you really like the bike and you want it back to UK.

Cheers
