ash i if u wanna book citin hotel at pudu, taking a cab will cost a bomb as Sepang is outside of KL city centre.. the only access is via NSH... cos going to Sepang u have to take the exit that goes direct to Ipoh frm the NSH.. best if u can get a place near there..

For the benefit of my fellow NUSriders, I would like to share my experience on what to do during an accident. It may be a bit wordy or repeated (from SBF) but I will highlight the important points of what I did, based on my incident.

1. If you are injured or bleeding, call the police immediately. They will ask if you need an ambulance. Do not be afraid of the hassle because there is no hassle at all, especially if you are not in the wrong. The reason for calling the ambulance is because although injuries may seem superficial, we do not know what happened on the inside of our body. (I did not realise that the handlebar hit my chest until the paramedics asked me if anywhere else hurts.)

2. If you are able to, take down the particulars of the other party and witnesses.

3. Call someone (Mr. X) who can be there to sort things out for you when you are being conveyed to the hospital. (Reasons: The other party can twist and turn the story, Mr. X can tell the incident to the police when they arrive, and Mr. X can take custody of your bike if need to). Things Mr. X needs to know:

a) If you wish to take custody of your bike, inform Mr. X. He will then need to call towing company (Bikebulance -64255333) Bikebulance liaised with Li Seng workshop (opposite Unique motorsports at Defu Lane). I am not sure if you can bring over to your favourite mechanic but if you really insist I think you can.

b) Mr. X will need to know exactly what happened. So tell him the exact story. This is to prevent the other party from twisting the incident, making him look like the innocent party.

c) If TP arrives, Mr. X needs to take down the VIDE Report Number from the TP. This is the report the TP makes. You need this number because when you make a police report, it must be linked to the TP’s report or else it will be considered a new case. This is important to note because most NPP are guys serving NS who do not know what to do.

d) An Investigation Officer (IO) will be in touch with Mr. X immediately. You will need to contact the IO a.s.a.p.

4. If you are not warded, make a police report and accident report within 24 hours of the accident. For my case, bikebulance took the trouble to pick me up from home the next morning, brought me down to Progressive to make accident report and brought me to the bikeshop to see my baby and sort out claiming issues, before sending me home. (You have to check with your insurance company where should you make the accident report. For AXA and AIG, it’s at Progressive. Somewhere in Eunos)

5. The IO will need you to fax him your IC, licence and insurance. If the police system (FOCUS) happens to be down during your police report, you will need to fax the IO the hardcopy of the police report as well.

6. If you dun mind the bikeshop taking a percentage of your claim, allow him to settle for you. (I am not sure of the percentage, but if it’s too high, it’s better to get your own lawyer. Lawyers standard rate is 15% of the claim.) For me, Li Seng said I do not need to fork out a single cent. He will appoint a lawyer to help you with my claim and do my bike ‘swee-swee’. If I can’t pick up my bike when it’s ready, they will send to my house. My job at this stage is to file everything that I have and just wait.

7. Extend MC if possible. Your claim is mainly based on your suffering. More MC = more suffering = more claim. (this is where your “keng” skills from the army is suppose to help you)

8. The lawyer firm appointed will contact you soon. They will send a letter and arrange a meeting with you. Remember ‘keng’ is the way to go at this stage.

From here onwards, I believe you all will know what to do because you will be recovering from your injuries and able to think straight.

I almost wanted to settle personally with him. But luckily my dad told me to call police. Since I was not at fault, why should I suffer for his careless act? I was bleeding all over my legs and all he cared about is whether my bike can start. It’s after I called the police then he began to be worried about my injuries, offered tissue and so on.

These are the last few things I would like to say:

1. Do not be afraid to do the above if you are not the guilty party.

2. Never sign anything with the other party on the spot.

3. With the new accident reporting procedure, it’s better to make police report especially if you are injured. What if the other party suddenly decided not to pay for your repairs after agreeing to private settlement? It will be hard to make him pay when it is a few weeks after the accident since by law, you HAVE to make accident report for ANY accidents on the road.

4. If the accident is because of you breaking the law (eg : beating red light), I am not in a position to advise.

5. Please never wear berms and slippers when riding. NEVER!

To escape an armlock, you need to be in one. To really know what to do during an accident, you have to experience it. I hope this has helped NUSriders one way or another. Feel free to share this with anyone else. One more thing… Ride a WR200. It’s very durable. Only signal light broken and plastic scratched. Imagine NSR farring broken, footpeg and foot brake lever broken…..heart pain….

(Thanks to 'Stan, the man' for looking thru)

No regrets.

Good information for the riders!!! Two thumbs up..

However, I would like to however, share my opinion on the subject in a different light..

If you are DEFINITELY in the wrong..I.e. the light wasnt in your favour..

beating the red light..own recklessness..

Provided that:

1) You can still stand up on your own two feet and walk (i.e. Not serious)

2) You did not damage any public structure

3) No other party or pedestrian hurt.

Do not board the ambulance and get someone to hail or call a cab

for you to go to the hospital. This is because by being conveyed by the ambulance

it will immediately be a police case and since it is definitely your fault anyway,:

1) You can't claim from the other party's insurance..

2) You have to bear your own damages/ expenses anyway..

3) In addition to that, You will definitely be issued a summon plus points..

Hence by taking cab.. u will lessen the police intervention in the case. You

just need to exchange particulars and let the insurance do the work for you.

This is exactly what the TP at the scene told me before I was brought in the ambulance that time.

His exact words are: " From the way I see it, You are in the wrong for this case. If you

take this ambulance, there will be a prosecution against you because it'll be a police case.

If you can manage to walk, I suggest you take a cab there yourself and the police will not

be involve in the matter. Its up to you to decide."

Another "wise words" from the IO in the investigation,

"If you have not taken that ambulance, we wouldnt be inside the picture at all. Less burden for you".

Soon after, I got my present letter from the TP regarding the summon.:(

My two cents in the topic.. Please do advise me if sumthing's amiss..

Today mid term ended at 740pm. I reached home at 10.15

I took bus 96 home to clementi mrt. It takes 1h 45 min to get to clementi mrt. Why?

Bcoz freaking 8 buses were full. I got the 9th bus. Waited 1.5h for bus. 15 mins for the ride. And it rained like mad after the 5th bus left. Limping in the rain into the bus, I realised how much I missed my bike.

I love the convenience of riding and the joy I get out of it.

Lesson of the day for me : Going public is a biatch

No regrets.

Why i hate public transport:

1) The Tremendous Wait.

2) The Crawling Journey.

3) The Despicable Transit.

4) The Foul Morning Breath.

5) The Torturing Body Odour.

6) The Insensible Kiasu-ists.

But the worst of all,.. Missing the cool breeze of freedom running thru..
