As the end draws near, I'd like to share some lessons I learnt for the past year.

And of course, there is no better way to do it than with a nice story.

The 07/08 committee were strangers. We were a ragtag bunch put together to keep a dream alive. Indeed, at the point of time when we took over, there was a drought of able-bodied, leather-clad, menacing bikers willing to take up the committee positions. The mission was clear, step up or byebye NUSriders. We did not know each others last names and struggled with each others first names. Truth be told, I couldn't tell the kitty from the cat.

Nevertheless, like true bikers, we rallied together for a common cause. A hastily put together matric fair, Ride Safe, Don't-ride-after-boozing campaign, numerous outings, we managed to keep the club together. The two girls I worked with, Char and Kitty, they were not girls I tell you, they were extraordinary women. The Nusriders blog, the T-shirts, the stickers, all could not have been done without them.

It warms my heart to see such activity going on, from old as well as new members. It reminds me that all the effort put in has not gone to waste. When we look at the glass of beer, do we say, "oh it's running out, let's finish the booze and go." or do we say "Get another round of drinks!"

Get another round of drinks I say!

Make it good, make it better. Do it with love. For the people.

Cheers to everybody.

With love,

Kevin

PS: This was not written under the influence of alcohol.

i'll raise that beer to kevin & team. cheers.

it has always been an issue of availability of committed members to pass the reins of the club to. stan, stacy, CS & i were likewise hardpressed to hand over to the next batch as we moved on to year 3. all riders in nus, regardless of being NUSRiders members or those who are unknowingly riding to school everyday enjoying the safe nus roads, free parking, safe access to parking lots and correctly sized lots, we all owe kevin & team our gratitude for the work they've done and the sacrifices they've made.

truth be told, the committee in my batch didn't perform up to expectations. n tt's why i'll be always helping out as much as i can, in a way of repaying my dues - to the seniors who set up the club, the promise i made at the sending-off of a dear friend and beloved staff advisor, as well as kevin & team who agreed to step up n be counted despite of the tough journey ahead.

to the transitional committee, and future committee members, kudos to your courage, and be not afraid to volunteer. no doubt it seems a thankless job and unrewarding chore. members past, present and future will be there to support you. at the end of the day, you'll find that there're things that matter more than cca points and nus recognition awards. the friends that you make along the way, the people that have walked into your life will leave footprints that they will never really walk out of.

everyday that the club exists, motorcyclists will be represented and not be discounted by the campus admin. everyday that we can call ourselves NUSRiders, biking ceases to be a mode of transport but an identity and a passion. let's all walk on together, and you'll never walk alone.

love,

Lin W

Fwah.. so many emo posts.. I also getting emo le wor..

For me, I really enjoyed the times spent together with u riders. Its a pity I haven't been able to join in that many outings, tours and meetups. I'm even ashamed that I missed one of those lunch meetups after telling Hongwei I will be there due to sheer bad memory (must be the booze).

I didn't get off to a good start with the club. I was too eager to prove a point, too young and rash and undiplomatic. 1 year on, I haven't changed much, only the friendships moved me. I believe its the moments spent with you ladies and gentlemen that will define my days at NUS. These are memories to be cherished in the future, and to be savoured while we are living it now. Cheers to good riding for the days ahead.

think i'm involved in the abovementioned. hehz.

no worries dude, what happens on the forums stay on the forums. we see each other in real life on campus and at outings, abrasions in the online world doesn't trickle out. fact is, i've already forgotten all abt it.

cheers dude, and i hope u're not drinking now :p

Dear all,

Sorry my english isnt as power n beautiful as kevin but i would like to share some thoughts as well. I joined nusriders way back to my 1st sem 1st yr during the matric fair, but i didnt join any outings or events all the way till me,kevin, char, ana took over the baton. That was when this stranded cat found friends and no longer feel lonely.

To someone so 'stranded' like me, 'nusrider' is my nus identity.

When I first talked to hongwei and faz in thai class, I told them I am from Nusriders(still a member though).

Me, Kev, Char as well as the ex-ex-com worked hand in hand with almost all the outings and events. The Kulai trip was the most memorable for me, it was my first time riding my sp to Kulai!!

Nusriders interest group is made possible not because of one man's show.

It is by each and everyone who has helped to make things possible.

Although I am just a 'female rider' amongst the heavy-egoistic male riders, I feel proud of char, kev and myself and ex-ex-com for all the efforts that brought the interest group thus far. =)

We do not have a large no. of members, but at least we learnt along the way and got to meet new people and happenings around us.

Its not the quantity, its the Quality.

Its not the result that matters, its the process.

All the best to the new committees.. !:thumb:

love,

reading about the previous posts on bike washing reminds me of something..there was once i was really hardworking..suddenly felt damn motivated to wash my scoot. then in the end i maybe scrubbed it too hard? (or maybe i used the wrong washing detergent?) that the paint on my scoot became matt. damn sadded that it wasnt nice and shiny. anyone knows what i possibly could have done wrong?

hongwei. despite catching up with busy projects.. i came upon the idea of funding raising activities for the club (thanks to starring at my cat sleeping peacefully at my bed)..

ive noticed that my department used a car washing gimmick for fund raising. maybe we could try a bike-washing fund raiser for the club..

we can wash our bike as well.. hehe.. just an idea.. of course.. isaac can volunteer himself to watch the bikes. im sure he'll love to ogle at diff makes of bikes.. thinking of wad he can adopt to his bike afterwards.. muhakah..

ok im bored... help me..
