arrgh!jus got word from workshop...heree the list of things to do...

piston

carbs

forks (totally worn off) need to re-chrome.

sigh

what happened to your bike? sent it for service or did i miss something?

what do you plan to do to your piston? Now might be a good time to swap to something aftermarket (hint, hint) rather than spend money fixing up the ones you already have :)

And why fix faulty carbs when you can buy FCRs? :)

Bumping it up, so that the thread will not drop to 2nd page..ha..ha. Where's everyone?

Anyway, just for fun,i got someone to come over to my place to groom my monster on Sunday. It's wonderful. The service was excellent. My monster look like brand new. The chain is so clean it shine...ha..ha.. total damage $55 for washing, polish and clean chain. To me it's money well spent... I am just too lazy to do it myself...ha..ha..

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, jas is right. It's team shinez. They will go over to your place to groom your bike. 2 hours to clean and polish your beloved bike. Service is first class. They are very busy now. You can only book for May's appointment now. They are fully booked for March and April. I already booked my second service with them after my first one.

Just checking if any one uses bar-ends to eliminate the micro vibrations that come through on the handlebar. I'm particularly sensitive to the vibrations and it spoils the fun of long rides.

hmmm....I don't think bar-ends help in this regard? i have a set of them on my bike but i doubt they reduce vibrations from the motor. In fact, the vibrations shake them loose and i need to retighten them every once in a few weeks.

I strongly recommend wearing gloves when riding, kills 90% of the vibration and almost eliminates hand fatigue. I wear gloves every time i ride the bike :thumb:

Gloves definitely the key thing here. Get touring ones, ur fingers might just fall asleep :cheeky:

I've got padded gloves and unfortunately this not enough. I've had anti-vibration bar-ends previously but they were not refitted when the handle-bar was replaced. They definitely reduce vibrations and fatigue. I can't seem to find the similar set, and the alloy ones sold in most shops are too light.

Wow you must have really sensitive hands. If you do get those vibration reducing bar ends can you share where you found it and for how much? Might be interested in getting a set myself if they do work

Since its so quiet i thought i'd post some little things i did which might help other monster owners.

Custom silencers for exhaust pipes:

Since just about every monster owner out there swaps his pipes, here is an option for those who have cored out straight thru pipes but want them to be 'legal' for inspection. Saves the hassle of needing to swap pipes when you need to get the bike inspected. Not a big deal for low mount exhausts, but an absolute B!TCH when dealing with high mounts or worse yet, the custom setup on my bike.

Mods done by Seng Kwang Metal Industrial. Its on the 5th floor of AMK Autopoint. If anyone wants the exact address or phone number let me know and i'll dig around for their name card (have it here somewhere i think)

Here's a pic of their work:

Left pic shows the silencer fitted. Pipe on the right without silencer

Result: Perfect. Quieter than stock. Lasted all but half a day before i removed them which means they are really QUIET lol. Definitely good enuff to pass inspection. Comes on and off in 1 min and all you need is an allen key

Fork Socks:

Here's an idea for guys who want to change their fork colour and protect them at the same time. I got sick of flying stones hitting my forks and instead of risking damage to them i decided to try and find a place where i could get them wrapped. I tried going to the shop called 219 (next to minerva) and told him what i had in mind: using the same weatherproof material he uses to do bike seats, make a thin 'wrap' with a thin cushion lining inside that goes around the fork secured by velcro. This is the result, and it actually looks a lot better than i thought. The ability to protect my fork was the main motive, but the ability to 'black out' the fork in line with the colour of the rest of the bike was a really nice side benefit as well. The velcro actually holds the socks in very well, there is no need for the zip ties, but i had them fitted so that itchy fingers would have a tougher time trying to steal them

Today was rushing to Alexandra Village/Racewerks cause I spotted a nail on my front tire. And was stuck at the infamous Alex V jam outside AIA. There was a yellow Monster infront of me. Sorry, didnt have time to say Hi and u zoomed off too. If u r in here, hi.

Anyway, while "squeezing"...I accidentally hit a car's side view mirror...arrgh..but he didn't managed to stop me as he was stuck in jam...how bad can I be. :sian:

no leh i meant that with the silencers in, the pipes are quieter than stock! which is why i took them out after half a day lol. without the silencers is of course a different story:thumb:
