full service(ask for it by saying 10000 service)

 

Valve adjustments

belt change

engine oil

oil filter

Carb service .this is the minimum.ask for his cost b4 commiting

what you did is just 5k service and maintainace.

 

maybe throttle cable not sorted out

 

whatever the case,ask youself or your buddy who sold you the bike.

when was the last 10k service?if there was any.chances are none.what this means,you got a long trip ahead and you better be prepared to do the 10k service b4 its too late.

 

and if yu have not,please make your way down to our weekly meet introduce yourself order teh tarik and ask away.

My monster 400 whenever i come to stationary from moving, it takes some time for it to go back to the idling point. Is it normal for monster 400?

 

its great that u had done the full servicing... now ur bike can perform better as everything is clean... :thumb: don't worry abt the problem its just the tuning... Raymond will sort it out.. after he did a full service and tuning of my bike he also ask me to ride for few days if anything wrong go back to him.. the very next day I went back to him with the same problem u r facing now.. Its only the idling which is a little too high as when he tune ur bike its not as hot as when u r riding on the road... Small matter... do not attempt to do it urself.. go back to him..

He said he just do full service ma.. so i presume it inclu belts, carb wash and valve clearance only as his engine oils and plugs just change not long ago... so most prob is only the tuning.. it happens to me before.. small matter.. Ducati recommended full service every 15k miles.. which is abt 20k.. for me I do full service on the 4th oil change which 15k to 18k++ which is abt a year or 1.5years depends on how often u ride.. Usually on the 3rd oil change I'll request to check if the timing belt is ok.. Usually it is ok so I'll change during the 4th oil change so by then its abt 17 to 18k already....

I think it's safe to say that there is nothing normal about any Monster (or Ducati). Every bike behaves and performs differently. Have some patience and understand the different characteristics of your bike. Sort out it's little quirks and enjoy your ride.

 

If you want a normal bike with no character or soul, buy Japanese!

service intervals is at riders discretion,bike age and condition.

 

pre 2002-03 models are recomended to service the bike @ interval of 5k and 10k respectively.

 

5k (minor service) service will jus be oil and oil filter change.

10k (major service) service includes valve adjustment,belt change and carb services plus all other required wear and tear change like in 5k service.

 

post 2002-03

 

as above but they stretch it abit (can someone confirm the exact mileage)

to save the rider some cost.(which is not true bcause the cost of labour and parts increased accordingly)

 

i started (as recommended from manuals and previous owners) 5k & 10k religiously.

now @ 16 years old (thanks to the 5k/10k formula)i change the intervals to 5k minor,10k minor and 15k major service due to less agressive riding.

 

villier,this is actually a honeymoon period of getting to know your bike.however far or short the intervals you choose,do it with a pinch of salt.

 

Ducati has character sayang or abuse it.It return the favour many times the amount.

My orange monster is at Raymond's right now. Clutch Slave cylinder leaking.

 

Thanks for recommending Raymond, he found out that only seal need to be changed and bearing washed. Other shops tell me to change the whole slave cylinder, end up saving heaps of money.

Thanks for recommending Raymond, he found out that only seal need to be changed and bearing washed. Other shops tell me to change the whole slave cylinder, end up saving heaps of money.

 

 

yes most ppl would.Oem slave cylinder need matainance too.

I used to do mine @ every 5k.jus to clear all dirt and grime or else it will eat away clutch piston and wear o-ring
