Anyone has a spare headlight assembly for Monster S2R 800 that you could sell to me? I met with an accident...... Minerva has no stock and shipping needs one month... Or if there's an alternative solution?

U can get a super 4 headlight it'll fit just ugly.

Alternatively just grab it off ebay, should reach u in roughly 1 week.

Most of the bikes goin ard would have passed thru this forum somewhere its in lifetime before. But nevertheless, always consider the bike as work needs to be done on it. Its a ducati after all, never consider them to be problem free.

Hello Fellow Ducatians,

I have recently bought a mint condition less than 3k milleage with terming exhaust 696. My first ducati as ever. I used to ride GSR 400 before upgrading to 696. My question is i feel the bike pick up is not fast as japanese bikes. I drove yamaha as well before.

any comments or suggestions of what needs to be checked.

I have been to Minerva and the they told me that the bike is design is like that.

when i travel in KPE tunnel, i cannot use high gear to maintain 70-80 speed.

when i slow down the bike needs to be in only gear 1 or 2 other wise i see a drop.

also i am observing that when i try to accelerate, i see some delay in catch up.

may be my way of using the throttle is used to Japanese bikes not sure though.

i would appreciate if any 696 owner share his expercience or pass me his number so i could catch up for cup of coffee for a casual chat to know more about ducati. I really love the looks and i want to correct any minor issues the bike has if any as minerva says its in perfect condition and no issue.

Ride @ 4krpm onwards. Wat u are discribing indicates u r riding below that rpm. Its not about the gearing. Its abt the rpm.

well thanks for the tip. below is my exact situation.

I am having the following issues/ problems and would really appreciate any help I can get on these:

1) When driving, the acceleration is not smooth at all especially in the first and second gears. It basically feels as if the bike is for lack of a better word :tugging at you and it is especially troublesome driving it in the city where I am generally in the 1st and 2nd gear. Am I riding it wrong or is there something going on with my motorcycle?

2) do we need to adjust the idle rpm on the Monster 696 or do I need to get it done at a Minerva?

3) Is there a clutch number you would recommend for the clutch ?

If someone to could link me to a best riding practices thread (if any) for the 696 in the city and highway or give any tips/tricks, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks much.

Let me put it this way, ride ur bike above 4krpm not lower. Jap bike can ride as low as 2krpm doesnt mean u should ride it the same way on a L-twin.

There are many factors. But kindly answer the following:

1. What bike/year are you riding

2. What is ur current set up?

3. What tire / year are you using

4. Has ur steering cones been checked

5. What tire pressure are u using

6. When was the last time ur forks were serviced

During full servicing, i doubt steering cone and suspensions are serviced. Its not a requirement. But chances are, they are fine. But other then the S models, ducati is known to set their suspensions soft out of factory.

Try increasing ur tire pressure to front 32/34/36 and rear 36/38.

If the vehicle feels:

- Soft, Increase compression damping

- Low, Increase compression damping

- Bottoming, Increase compression damping

If the vehicle feels:

- Harsh, Decrease compression damping

- Hard, Decrease compression damping

Which BT tires are u using?

Also swop the front sprocket to 14 t. It won't improve your riding habits, but it may improve riding performance.

Dreamed I was a muffler. Woke up exhausted.

You'll need a motofango rack mount kit for st2, and a set of dp pannier boxes.

Apologies, it's nonfango mounting rack for monster and st boxes. Thank you dodobird for pointing it out.

unfortunately the tugging at you is called high toque for all ducati twin , thats the characteristic. jap bikes with inline engine would feel very different.

and yes ducatis are sometimes very painful to ride in heavy traffic

Tats exactly why u never see a slow ducati.

U can accelerate thru the rpm but not hold rpm. If u hold anything below 4krpm, it will always feel like its goin to die and practically never be able to open the throttle to gun up.
