Hi all,

i raced an 04 spec 10r in the malaysian super series for the 1st 2 rounds in standard form except or race fairings and modded brake lines and pads.

here's my 2 cents

1. the stock pads are good but the ones i used, EBC gold are better, wayyy better. unfortunately the pads are a bit thicker than OE so had to remove the spacer in the calipers to make way. bad move. this made the brakes hot and resulted in fade after about 4 laps.

solution: put the spacer back in since it gives some air room to cool down the brakes, shave a few mm's off the race pads.

tried using bigger master cylinder (20 mm brembos) but it only lasted 6 laps before the lever became all mushy.

2. the power delivery is quite gentle on standard rear sprockets but there's too wide a gap in the rev range before anything interesting happens. this makes handling the beast quite a feat coz the power comes on when u concentrating on getting smooth exit and straightening up. if u not careful... land sky land sky.

solution: i put 3 tooth up the rear and got just the nice balance of immediet power and engine braking. although it did make the bike spin the rear a bit more but not so dangerous coz ure much aware of it and thus prepared.

3. i run reverse pattern for the gear change. it helps me change up while leaning over for the fast right hander of turn 3 sepang. it also helps me time my down shifts slower coz with the slipper clutch u tend to down shift faster and sometimes find false neutral.

all in all, i find the bike very fast and scary yet satisfying when u get it right. but it's scary most of the time so i'm down grading back to 600s this year.

No babe. Doesnt make any diff be it any race. If u really like something just go for it and dun settle for second place is wat i always say. If financially there is difficulty then wait til sound n stable then do it. No point beating the gun n regret down the line yeah?

Expensive n hard to maintain???? Dun see the logic why is tat Kawasaki is tat way. All bikes the samething aint it??? 1 biker may service his/her bike every 5000km n 1 biker service his bike every 2000km??? If u whack the bike day in day out for no reason die la bro!!! Get wat im trying to say bro?

The reason y i chose a Kawa is not because im well to do but i just like that its rare. Cheers mate!!! Ride safe yall!!! :thumb:

sorry, can u elaborate more on this part ? how is it that with a bigger bore master cylinder, the brake gets mushy after just 6 laps ?
