how much does icon tarmac 2.0 cost ? singapore doesnt sell icon gloves?

i've tried to order Icon Tarmac v2 from Phillip in the MO but no colour & no size (XL & above). Available only end of Oct if not mistaken.

But i've order thru US website 2 weeks ago which charge at around S$63 each plus shipping which is S$3 more compare to MO.

Now still waiting for the gloves to arrived as I used the cheapest shipping they offer at US$10 for 2 pairs of gloves.

Alot of times, its not juz the cheapest that will be gd... And not the most expensive glove will be the best either

Many a time, it depends alot on the shape of you hand and fingers. Some gloves suit one person but not the other. I'll just give a comparison of the gloves that i have tried on before so far.

Alpinestars - SPS : Gloves felt comfortable, not too thick thus retains sensitivity of fingers. But downside was the finger area wasn't that fitting to my fingers and the design actually restricted my finger movements, i had difficulty fully straightening my fingers to reach for the clutch and brake lever. Probably due to the thick padding on the top of the hand.

SP-1: Gloves felt too tight(S size) while the M size was a tad too lose for comfort. Again, the palm/finger areas did not fit as snugly as i hoped. either being lose at the joints between the index finger and thumb or at the last finger. Similar sensitivity as the SPS.

Held - Ninja : My 1st ever pair of gloves. Fit was excellent and wrapped around my palm snugly. Carbon knuckles sits just nicely on my knuckles. Free movements of the fingers and palm. Leather was slightly thicker than the Alpinestars SPS but still pretty sensitive. Perforated leather on the palms meant more cooling but also reduces the overall strength and protection offered. Only downside was that the dye tended to run. So after rain you end up getting black hands. Overall an excellent pair of gloves but not available readily in sg now.

ICON - Hooligan : Did an MO previously for some guys. The product din turn out to be as gd as i expected or as the pic seemed to show. The knuckle protectors were pretty huge, a tad too huge for the glove itself, making it seem bulky. The protectors were also no flexible, reducing the over mobility of the wearer. Sizing felt weird but the leather at the palms were not too bad. Not something that will suit everyone.

Dainese - dunno the model: My present pair of gloves. They fit as well as the ninja pair of gloves. Not too much gap on the joints at the same time fits the palm. Leather at the palms are excellent. Gd feel and sensitivity. Carbon knuckles not restricting and fits on top of knuckles snugly. Overall another pair of gd gloves. Sustained a small slide during a fall on E-brakes at my Class2 lesson and it came out with only minor scuffs. Plus point is that the colour dye does not run even under extreme weather conditions.

Speed Metal : Pretty restricting and very tight in some spots and lose in others. Not exactly something i would call comfortable. The last 2 finger are also somewhat joined making it real uncomfortable for me. The titanium knuckle guards were a pain....

GPR - Don't know the models : From the feel of the gloves they probably provide sufficient protection but the leather at the palms felt pretty thick meaning some sensitivity will be lost.

As you can see from the above few reviews, not always the most expensive will be the best. But most importantly get a pair that will suit your palm and give you the most comfort rather than the cheapest off the shelf cos you might not wanna wear it again after a few weeks.

Also if possible, go for leather ones. They will be able to sustain falls and still be used, unlike textile ones which probably have to be thrown away after a fall and it might not offer enuff protection as you slide along the tarmac.

I know this is off-topic. But anyone know how to wash your gloves properly? Have washed them by soap. Was wondering if possible to send to dry cleaners instead. Still feel the inside is not cleaned properly.

i think if ur gloves r e mesh type, i believe a gd wash will b 2 soak it 4 a few hrs in normal washing liquid/powder with sm water... then scrub, not machine-wash... air 2 dry.. leather i think use leather cleaner and air e gloves often.. these methods sure keep e salted-fish hand syndrome away...

I was at Chiap Lee (Serangoon Rd) today and their customer's service was very poor! Maybe they only entertain "Ang Mos".

I was there to enquire the Clover water resistant jackets on behalf of my company to purchase min. 30 pcs, it cost approx. S$450 each. I asked one of the twin bro whether he could give a better discount for min. of 30 pcs, his reply was 15% and he walked away. I was surprised at his attitude towards their customers. He did not even offer me to view their collection range.

Chiap Lee will definately be out of my enquiry / shopping list!

Now so cheap already? or is that for the 2005 model?

The last time round i checked, they quoted me 200+ for the 2006 model......

$150 was like the price some guys got during an MO many months back.....
