asalbole_09: long long time never saw ur x'mas tree liao like omni said, the tick sound can refer a few factor. as the "agak agak" way to verify is if the soound from left means valve problem. if the sound from right means ur tentioner. hope help.

After you get used to your FJR, maybe we can have slow comfortable back to your home-town for bikes-models shopping....

 

But imagine, we ride for a few hundred kilometers up north just to buy bike models and bring back to SG... hahahahahaha.....

Hi, sheep,

 

Though my bike is considered quite new(officially registered in Aug 2005, so it is less than two years old) and has only travelled around 24,000km, I also find a bit of ticking sound coming from my engine. It seemed to be very "rough" during idling when I clutched in and wait at a red light. Maybe I heard wrongly and I am over-sensitive. I was thinking, since it is a less than two years old bike, it should not have such tensioner, etc problem so soon, right??

 

The tia tia sound has been bothering me too. Hope to be able to meet you FJRians for advice one of these days too... I have been very busy at work since returning to work after the CNY... Worked till almost 8pm almost everyday... And my trusted, reliable mechanic at the motor-diam is always busy with big bikes on Saturdays, so it is kind of difficult for me to go down on Sat to let him check my bike...

 

I was wondering is there any other trusted mechanic whom you FJRians can leave your "beloved" for him to check.

 

Sorry, newbie on FJR here, so tends to post a lot of questions...

thanks bro...the sound is coming right at the front..from below the handle bar...its not the ticking sound...its rough...mebbe i'll call u tonite ard 11 and see if u r free to take a look at my ride...thanks...

If it is really the tensioner that is going to spoil soon, what are the costs I will be suffering from, i.e. cost of labour and cost of the tensioner??

can eat cheap seafood, play water sport, go riding (using kup) at pulau pangkor, stay and chill at resort, actually got quite a lot to do la.

 

Going up to peneng also not very far, abt 2 hours, maybe can go to ipoh for the famous ipoh hor fan!!!

maybe seahmh u should try this method if its still there then maybe yr tensioner... is the bike ticks at around 2800 rpm??? if it is then try to speed up a little, i tried the last time to ride aroun 140 km at 3 rd gear and wack the bike.... come home the tick is gone.. and if the tick is during idleing then might come down to yr tensioner or valve..

 

hope this helps... but its just my 2cent idea
