i know i'm really new here but just a bit of knowledge i'd like to share with the guys that i've incured from working with a petrochemical major for the past 6yrs infor from the Senior Chemical techs here, i guess alot of us already know it already but just to share for those whom don't

 

The only difference in the grades that we use (98/95/92) is the octane level and the cleaning agents among the different compaines as you all know with having the same kind of refineries the only difference is the part of the countries they are drilled from.

 

Alot of the technicians at my work place don't believe in the vpower , Syn platinum and watso ever as they all use the minimum required by their engines, i've heard of some guys using 92 for their cars (Passats and RX300s) but they have warned me before to use higher octane levels for better performance for smaller CC as more combustion power is needed and so forth smaller the CC higher the power but it does compromise on the comsumption.

 

They always say it's a marketing gimmick to have them segregated.

 

But using M'sian Fuel improves consumption as they have alot of additives in their fuels improving consumption but reducing cleaniness in the engine, but a fully syn engine oil would be able to clean them and this is also their theory

 

So in short, unless u compare it with different countries of fuel in grades you'll see a difference in consumption, and if compared with the Vpower grades to the lower grades such as 92, but other than that the mid range groups are usually give the same kind of consumption power.

M'sia boleh la, M'sian fuel gives better milleage according to the chemists.

 

My POV is M'sian fuel is more fuel economy, so better use Higher grade but m'sian fuel la, Anyways, frankly i've not seen 92 in M'sia... 98-95 is good enuff.

 

But Vpower for bigger engines not necessary la,Smaller CC bike u use higher end more effective, big CCs like ours normal end say 95-98 range is great la.
