I am not sure whether any brothers here experience this problem and wanted to find a solution to it.

I sometimes have problem starting my bike when it is hot ( 4 bars temperature indication ) because once I turn my ignition "ON", the radiator fans immediately cuts in by the thermostat and the battery have to work the fan and at the sametime to crank the engine.

This would not be much of a problem when using new battery that is fully charged, but when the battery is not so new anymore, it is a diferent story.

I will have to crank the engine longer or worst when the bike begin resetting itself and finally the battery just don't have enough juice to do the job.

I have finally added a manual "ON/OFF" switch to the radiator fan so that I can have control over it during starting of my bike after a hot run.

I just switch it off before I turn the ignition to start my bike and immediately switch it back on after my bike had started.

I know some people here will say that I should replace my battery when it is weak or it is not a good idea to add a switch to the radiator fan because I might forget to switch it back on resulting in a damaged engine.

However, please note that I am not "cheap" and can very well afford a new battery anytime. It is just that I find it irritating that my bike keeps resetting it's electronics and have trouble cranking when I need it most. The radiator fan should not be "ON" during starting of the bike even though the engine temperature is high. It should only be "ON" after the bike had started.

Well it is my choice and decision, I am putting this info here because I did not see any brothers here doing it.

First I prepare the plastic cover by cutting a hole in it.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n64/nemo6089/Image002.jpg

Then I prepare my switch

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n64/nemo6089/Image003.jpg

Be very careful not to cut the wrong wire because there are two 15Amps fuse, one for the radiator fan and the other for the signal.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n64/nemo6089/Image006.jpg

Install a connector to these two wires, one with a male joint and the other with a female joint ( just in case you cut the wrong wires or wanted to throw away the manual "ON/OFF" switch and revert back to it's original condition.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n64/nemo6089/Image007.jpg

This is how it looks when it is done.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n64/nemo6089/Image010.jpg

I bougth the original hazard lights switch to control the radiator fan because I think it should be waterproof, it cost me $24 at Hong Leong.

Hahaha, I first get an impression of the hole of the hazard light switch and then cut the paper into the exact size and paste it into position on the plastic.

Then I did it the crude way by first poking a hole into the center of the pasted paper on the plastic with a bearing scraper ( I have a brand new power drill but lazy to take it out to use lah ) and then slowly ( really slowly ) working it with a file until my switch can be inserted snugly.

Takes me about half an hour to file it.

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

nice work man. that a very neat job.

but IMHO i think u should check over ur engine liao..

hard to start while engine hot might due to FI problem. just a think from me. no offence.

Thanks for your advice bro, will check on that one day too.

But now it is the strain on my battery that is the problem.

If battery is not working the radiator fan, my starting is very smooth, just one crank only and the bike comes to life

@reborn - Btw, the cutout that you made should by for the lower portion of the switch rite? Otherwise when you press on it, the entire switch will sink it ya....

WHich means that the switch is pretty elevated?

think not..on the switch itself got a convex layer which should act as stoper. look proper on the pic that reborn posted.

Yep, expected it to go to that level... So the total protrudsing surface should be as such right? Which is quite elevated woh...

Omni, you are right, the switch cannot be flush on the plastic due to the catch on the switch is quite low.

Dean, maybe you can visit this web site to download the wiring diagram to look for the best place to tap out the power for your lightings.

It is quite straight forward and should not be too difficult to understand.

I've read that before... quite a few years back...

I think its a long long road if you want HL to do anything. Some more most of our bikes are no longer warranty....

I think your generation one still considered ok. My generation one, me and capi, the ticking super loud....
