Hi

whats the average mileage/years for a pair of tyres?

Ahhhh... this question is tyre dependent. :lol:

How time flies...

I am using Michelle pilot sports front and rear bt20. I changed the front much later than the rear. Problem is I am always on the highway and suspected the tires had gone square. Got some resistance when trying to corner lower. Both the tires seems to be botak soon at the center. Braking got a uneven feeling.

hi, will like to ask. when you all pump tyres, usually how you all overcome the problem when you take out the nozel, the pressure in your tyres drop?

also, when you all say eg.250 front 290 back, is it the pressure you all set on the machine or is it the exact pressure you have in your tyres? if yes how you all manage to get it ?

Its the pressure shown on the machine and that's the same pressure you pumped into your tires. when the "ding ding ding" stops or the buzzer sounds, you remove the nozel and air that comes out is from the machine pumping into the tires so it doesn't matters or you nvr remove properly thus causing the air escaping from tires.

For me, 250 F and 290 R is too heavy even with pillion as it gave me a feeling like my bike is dropping. Its more of getting used to it. Its written on your chain guard like some of the bros said it: Single 225 F 250 R and with pillion 250 F 290 R. I ride solo and occasional pillion with 225 and 250. Its up to you to decide. I don't go pump to pillion spec just to pillion someone and lower it after I am riding it myself. You can do the in between like some of bros suggested. Cheers

Correct bro..btw i use to run 250 and 290 on my bt021 when touring with pillion,however,yesterday when i pump my diablo the same kpa when touring i find the tyres are too hard. have to drop to 235 and 275,for a smoother ride.

I pumped my tires every 2 to 4 weeks usually...I usually pumped my tires in the morning before travelling to anywhere else as the petrol station is very near my house. This way, the tires are much cooler and the pressure is more accurate.If lucky, tires will last me 1.5 to 2 years..The more air you pumped in, more braking power is needed to stop the bike when moving therefore brake pads and brake discs wear much faster. Tires last longer. The less air you pumped, less braking power is needed but tires wear faster as they have more surface contact to the ground and more fuel used due to more friction to the ground due to weight. More more power is needed to move compared to higher pressure pumped.

Go experience with tire pressure. I have been experimenting with tire pressure everytime.As S4 front fork is soft, the front tire should not exceed 250. Usually I used 245, For rear, it is really optional. i have even try 320 and tire does not burst. Showa rear suspension are usually soft after sometime, so with pillion the air escape rather fast. But i recommend, FRONT-240 to 245, REAR-290 to 300 (with pillion)

It is all science so have fun riding!

Currently using the Diablo HR. Good grip when cornering and confidence in wet. But think It'll wear out in about 8-10 mnths time.

I am using that tyres. Its touring type. I feel its not too bad. Anyway I also dun go for cornerings but even I do, it doesn't gives me those slippery feeling but the tyres are still new (less than 2 mths). I do alot of highway like Jurong and Tampines on weekends so I go for this. Otherwise I would go for Dialo. Its your choice. Cheers

using my pilot sport for a few months now. quite sticky but cant beat the stickyness of bt090. the pilot sport'll give u the trust u need, be it wet or dry road.

as for pirelli tyres. was kinda slippery when wet when i used it. front tyre skidded on PIE *god knows how it happens* bt heng2 can control.

Iceachilles, try to get both same tyres. dont use different brands. the compunds are diff, may affect your braking distance too.

I'd rather get a Leo Vince than a Louis Vuitton.

I've been using Michelin Pilot Power (front:120 rear: 160) for my version S since July 09 and its been a breeze. Excellent grip for dry and wet road condition.

Another S4 rider living near me had a bad experience with his newly acquired ME Z1. Punctured the rear tyre when riding along Vivocity and discovered that the tyre had been punctured on 2 points caused by nails. It took him a while to search the source of the puncture as the nails were punctured deep in the MEZ1 grooves..

Hi all, am looking for feedbacks of these tires:

Bridgestone:

BT-020;

BT-021;

BT-92.

Michelin:

Pilot Road;

Pilot Road²;

Pilot Power.

As a daily heavy road commuter/user, am looking at more of a sport-touring compund tires, for better lasting & also grip.

Occasionally goes for touring, but not really into corners.

Would like to compare the differences(apart from the brand) of these 6 models before committing.

Anyone can help?

Michelin: generally grippy but not long lasting.

bt92: dunno much about this.

bt021: i am using this for quite a few months already.. it gives me sufficient confidence on wet road, but if cornering then this loses out to bt090. according to other users and my friend.. bad thing about it is front tyre squares off quite fast.

bt020: older version of bt021.

hope this helps. :)

seems like i've a mixed reaction.

am currently using 2 different tires, front Diablo, rear metz MEZ1.

but the rear seems to square off in the center fast.

thou i like its compound when its hot, grippy & sticky. comfortable on the wet too.

but as metzeler's tires are always soft-medium compound, it doesnt fit in my budget.

ive ppl telling me to get the BT-020, lasting on wear, gd in wet. bt heard its already OOP as BT-021 is out to replace its predecessor.

as for mich's, there's the 3 reccomendations.

but, also nt sure if there's stock here for BT-92 & Mich's Pilot Road² for S4?

personally, i think for your usage bt021 would be good.. heavy road user.. rear bt021 can use for very long.. that's the reason y i am using it as well.. haha.. do give us some feedback on other tyre if you decide to change to others instead.

are there any dual compound tyre for s4? i know bt021 rear is dual compound.. those dual compound or multiple compound tyres should last longer..
