i just got my first bike and also my first parking offence... crap.

got a lot of questions regarding parking at public bike parks.

how does parking for bikes work?

does it work like cars?

if yes, then if i put my coupon on the bike, will it get stolen?

is bike parking free? i see a lot of bikes at bike parks without parking coupons.

i need some enlightenment here...

Let's try.... I'm also new rider....

Yes, most car park will req you to put coupon....

Write your license plate on the coupon to prevent theft....

If in housing estates then maybe they have season parking....

Some pple hang disc and put their coupon in the disc.

Firstly i'm sorry to heard your new of getting summon. Anyway what dos the summon paper indicate? Normally the car park attendance will issue summon to those bikes park the the foot path... Void Deck... Illegal Parking this & that. Regarding About the matter you worried that whether your coupon will or will not be stolen... Don't worry~ for motorcycle coupon you'll have to state your number plate... If your really damn unlucky... Some people play prank on you or the coupon actually fly away. As for season ticket holder... You'll don't have to display your season ticket. They have record in their machine... So if in any case you park @ your car park which you purchase the season parking for the month & the issue to you a summon~ Go HDB n compliant without any hesitation... People which did'nt display their coupon... maybe they just went to buy something and will be back in a short while or what so ever... Actually people who never display parking coupon is very common already. See if you're willing to risk or not.

thanks for the enlightenment.

i've already purchased a season HDB parking. i also noticed bikes with the orange colored parking disc on their bikes at public bike parks (not those HDB ones).

are those orange disc meant for that particular bike park? or it's a universal coupon for all bike parks in singapore?

how do i purchase one? and where from?

The orange circles?? They're normal bike coupons... you can use them in any public carpark... but you can only buy them by bribing the old uncle who sometimes hangs out at the void deck of Blk231 Hougang Avenue 4 with Marlboro Menthol Cigarettes......

Just kidding... :) they're available in all the same places that car coupons are... try 7eleven.

No worries.... :) Just had to have fun with that one....

Owning a bike is soooooo much more convenient than owning a car... not only do we need to spend so much less money parking them... most of the time we can park wherever we want for free....

Just hope it doesn't rain :)

So does it mean that we can use 1 coupon and park in more than 1 place the whole day (or night?). Eg, i park at bedok then i travel to eunos than hougang with just 65cents?

erm... 1 coupon is meant for only 1 car park

even if u use it on more than 1 car park nobody can verify it...

but this is not allowed...

well dear Wildswans

that maybe part of the reason why more & more ERP gantries are popping up in public car parks

perhaps it is not wise for us to further indulge in this issue

Yah....

If all carparks become ERP ones then there will be a lot of summon for illegal parking....

This isn't stated on the coupon, so I believe it can be used throughout the day. The ERP system is by car park due to technical limitation -- there's no backend system that links up all the ERP systems.

When it comes to parking, you need to know the fines:

$8: parking in white lot w/o coupon

$25: parking in red lot (or any season parking lot) w/o season parking

$25: parking where not allowed in car park

$70: parking on double yellow line or pavement

$100: parking in void deck

(void *) &NHY;
