Anyone took up Air rifle / Air pistol shooting as hobby?

I learn the that equipment is very expensive (from 1k-3k). Is there any chance of 2nd hand equipment?

thanks.

i just joined safra air pistol shooting club. need to undergo 3 (must go) lesson. after 1st boring lesson which the coach pratically read out the whole rules book (yes i almost fall asleep). but i must admit, the coach did try to explain the rules in a lively way. He will add in some joke and funny posture here and there to create attention and make us laugh. but still, it is reading the book whole 2 hour (almost). hehehe...

Today i finally got to shoot. YEAH... very fun.

I am from CDANS shooting club, it is a really affordable way to shoot. Now in my line of work though, kinda sick of carrying guns anyway!

Cheers!

is it. wanna teach me shoot? still thinking of buying a air pistol. but i think i better wait and see if my fever got cool off or not. don't anyhow waste money. not cheap lor. don't know got 2nd hand or not also. sigh...

They are at least a $1000 a piece, plus extra for cleaning kit and felt pellets, plus the pistol case, etc. I think it is a better idea to just rent them for $2 if you are a member at CDANS or SAFRA.

Cheers!

to daniel: well, that is true about the cost. i will play till i felt i want to move forward. then consider getting a entry level gun. it is just like playing golf. at first i rent a club to hit in the range. then i buy a set of clubs to hit in the range. then at a time i felt i can make it, i enter the green. :-)

i read in the oversea forum that the entry level people usually pick up 2nd hand pistol at 50% of the price. but i don't think this practice can be pick up at sg becos of the rules we have. i think.

to Xenophobia07;

does shirley ng want a student (not too ex)? i and my girl when for the class, but the lecturer is indian and my girl does not speak english and i am a lousy teacher. So at the moment we just shoot for fun.

i am worse. i am a left eye right hand person. sigh...

was explain to me that air pistol and air rifle does not require much cleaning. unlike gunpowered pistol which will built carbon, etc.

and i finally got my membership card. yeah... :-)

All weapons still need to clean, cause the lead in the round will coat the barrel and rifling. Also all weapon need to oil as air weapons are made of cold steel like most firearms.

I seriously doubt so. Because the last time round she went for the Olympics competition, SAF ask her to take 1 year of unpaid leave. :dozed:

And she doesn't exactly talk much about her air pistol stuff, except for the time she went to train in China.

ok. thanks.

.22 ammo. hmm.. interesting (actually i now newbie, everything is also interesting to me).

i shall stay at .177 for some time before move on. hehehe....

Most air rifle clubs phased out the .22, which mostly were the Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) .22 Airsporter cause they were too powerful for an indoor range, and also the weapon was very heavy. Still remember that it looked and weighed as much as an M1 .30 carbine.

Nope, illegal to keep at home, if you buy in sg, got to keep at the range amoury, something like an armskote in SAF terms.

Cheers!

actually competition air pistol (i only check air pistol via internet and email) does not cost cheap. i have check a few country (german, usa, china, etc) and the cheapest is junior air pistol which cost about USD$1000.

** these type of air pistol look pretty funny and not real gun lookalike.

according to them, these gun are not suppose to drop or etc. if it went out of alignment, it has to be send back to factory for repair.

a friend of mine say he saw selling in hatyai , china made air pistol , less than $200. If can mount laser sight on it, then alignment is no problem, coz you can simply realign the laser dot to your actual shot.

I wonder if buy a air pistol which dun look like a gun, can it be classify as a toy, and i can carry it legally?
