MotoGP riders go wild down under

News, 13/10/05

 

Several MotoGP riders made the traditional visit to the Phillip Island Wildlife Park on Thursday, enjoying an opportunity to discover local animals such as kangaroos, wombats, koalas and Tasmanian devils. Repsol Honda's Max Biaggi and Fortuna Yamaha's Toni Elias were joined by 250cc riders Hiroshi Aoyama, Alex de Angelis and Simone Corsi and 125cc stars Thomas Lüthi and Mattia Pasini.

 

Biaggi was trying to find some inspiration as he bids to bounce back this weekend after being hampered by electronic problems last time out in Qatar. The Roman Emperor will be attempting to retain second overall in the championship at Phillip Island with Melandri and Capirossi and a host of other riders also setting their sights on the 'best runner-up' title.

 

Fellow MotoGP rider Toni Elias has enjoyed better fortune than the Italian recently and clinched his best result in the premier class by taking eight at Losail. The Spaniard is eager to maintain his form at the Island to confirm his status as a 'hot property' as the silly season of press speculation warms up.
