You said it yourself, if you wanted to find some parking, you could a few hundred metres away.

If you were bold enough to park on the pavement, then you should be bold enough to own up and pay when you got caught. Especially since you've done it enough times to learn the consequences.

He who hesitates is lost!

call tow shop. Get it towed to ur fav bike shop. Pay for towing.

mail receipt to Cisco. Pay for towing charges not fine. But u lose usage of bike for the day u get it towed la.

End of the day, nothing beats paying 65cents for a piece of mind.

I kanna saman by Sembawang Town Council in May, because i cannot find a parking slot, simply that period too many bikers come to my area to play cricket, resulting in insufficient parking slot ( No red color parking slot for season parking bikers ). The cost of parking @ pavement is S$100. KNN..

After i appeal, they reduce to S$60. Still, i want to make the 2nd appeal as I'm not purposely want to park at pavement but simply, they are occupied by those bikers from other area.

ALSO need to complaint to HBD, not enough parking area for seasons bikers.:sian:

dunno my 2nd appeal can work o... Must write until i very poor.. haha..

Posted

you know, if you season tix, you can just parallel park on the bikelot...

hdb wont kachio you, even if tio summon, can easily appeal successfully one.

i was told by the hdb manager at my area. just make sure dun block traffic can liao...as long as vehicles can pass thru.

viod deck...no pang chance one...

Last week alone i saw 2 Ciscos summon all the motorbikes (around 30-40 bikes) parking on the pavement at changi near beach right infront of the Pulau Tekong ferry terminal. And i think most of the bike belong to Pulau Tekong recruits all kena summon.. This morning again i saw 1 TP again summon all the bike on the same pavement.

Anyway, the link 2 is saying that the danger is from motorcyclist riding dangerously onto the pavement, which I will agree if its really the case. Parking on pavement alone is not that dangerous. Unless some kuku bird hand itchy go touch the exhaust.

All these pple post these kindof things onto stomp just had nothin better to do. You think they really worried about kids getting killed meh, i dun think so leh.. Most of them just want to complain this and that. If i want to catch inconsiderate drivers, I just have to spend one hour outside the borders carpark exit, i can flood the stomp with pics.

I have pondered this before... suppose an innocent, unwatched toddler walks up to the a bike parked on the pavement & playfully grabs the hot exhaust resulting in serious burns. The rider would be liable for a civil suit, no?

How would you react if you were the bike owner?

unwatched.... i really wouldnt leave my toddler wandering around.... if i'm the bike owner, i think i'll be a bit guilty, but its still the responsibity mainly of the parents not to leave their toddler unwatched... even if they aint burned by exhaust, they'll still meet with other accidents sooner or later...

another thing, serious burns.... i think human's first reaction when they touch sth hot is to retract... At most blister...

The mosque near my place never fails to have HUNDREDS of bikes parked on the pavement during fridays. The lane is 2-lanes wide, but even cars line the whole stretch of road parking on double yellow lines occupying 1 lane.

However I doubt they all ever get summons. :dot:

it dont have to be a toddler. anyone who is not careful will get burnt by the exhuast.

nobody walking on the pavement should have worries of being burnt by bike exhuast in the 1st place. dun you think?

if you have to jaga your child even on pavements and hold their hands to walk and keep warning then not to go near that bike which is parked there, do you tink that is right? Crossing the road is another matter. But definately not walking on the pavement.

pavement is for walking, not parking la.

I'll rather you park on the roadside, so people can walk with peace. If you worry bike tio bang when park on roadside, then tink about those walking...

jus my tots...

I agree with you. If we don't like others being inconsiderate, then neither do others like us being inconsiderate. Pavements are not meant for bike parking unless parking spaces are painted on them.

End can temperature cools down to safe levels in about five minutes time. Anyway, my exhaust is underneath my panniers which is why i think its prety impossible for my exhaust to burn anyone.

I do understand pavement is for walking, not for parking. So is the grass patch on ur siggy right. I think its nv meant to have bikes on it too. I'm not giving any personal attacks, just an anology, no offence. A lot of things are used in ways in which they are nv intended for.

OK... burning people with exhaust is one issue.

Imagine someone who hates bikes just happen to walk past a bike on the pavement, and just nice he is eating a stick of fishballs bought from a nearby shop. He might not get burnt by the exhaust, but he might shove a fishball down into one.

Its a risk also.

no offence bro. an offence is an offence. but saying when a child is burnt it's the parents fault for not looking after them, is not right. Afterall, like you said u understand, pavement is for walking, not parking, so the fault is on the biker, not parents ya?
