sp coolant quite simple to change. just remove side center fairing and pull out the hose from the radiator. Coolant will leak and move the bike left right to allow coolant leftover to leak. After that just put back the hose and open the radiator cap and pour it. Best do flushing before pouring if you know how.

for me, best coolant will be engineice. Personally, i don't think sp require such a good coolant. Unless you hardcore drag 150km/h for 1hr. If not, any normal coolant will do. Go lab buy :)

hahhaa. by right, you should service your bike at least once a year. and once you open your top engine, you got to change your coolant too (:

I thinking to change the coolant on my Honda SP to Engineice. Cause 3 days back i was riding in town under the hot sun untill my temp meter the needle nearly gona go to "H". I panick and quickly stop my bike and off the engine. 1st time happen after riding for 5 mths sia..Dunno wat to do, so i let my bike cool down for 20 mins...than i ride back home and the needle was slightly above middle...Any guys know why it happened? Does my bike have to change coolant already? Pls advice.. thanks.

dont really have to worry, hot days and riding around town is harsh on the cooling system of the bike, its normal, with heavy traffic and constant low speed or stopping especially on a hot day when ambient or outside temp is high, not enough cool air is going through the radiator to cool down the coolant running through it, so in a sense hot coolant is pumped back to ur engine which in turn gets hotter and so on and on, should not be a problem with your bike though, maybe u can try maxima cool aide engine ice or watter wetter.

good to keep ur engine temp low, engine overheat causes lots of problems.

Ouh...wats the diff between the brands of diff coolant? all are the same thingy rite? Which u reccomend the most for SP? Anyway thanks lot bro..

hmm honestly not too sure about differences between the three, only know to generally use coolant made for bikes not cars , cos our radiator is made of aluminium (lighter), so it rusts easily. bike formulated coolant handles aluminium.

also, use premix, cos water (h20) actually is the best coolant, but it rusts stuff easily. coolant that we buy actually does not cool as well as water, but it actually is there to protect the coolant system from gunk and rust = heart pain expernsive

but most coolants now come ready premixed 50/50 coolant + pure/distilled/treated water (must use "pure" water they don't have salts that can corrode your system)

but some people bring it to 60 water to 40 coolant for better cooling.

personally i use maxima, i prefer i cos its not that ex and it works well for me and its cheaper at 18-20 bucks.engine ice is about 35? not sure about water wetter.

hmm its really up to personal preference, i heard good things about all three products, wont say theres a specific one good for a particular bike.

honestly think any three would work well for you, as sp a smaller bike, it should not generate as much heat as the class 2 bikes, various class 2 bikes owners do use these 3 different brands , so anyone would be good enough i feel.

quick google and found these for u maybe u can read and decide, or if u got a trusted mech ask him for reccomendations.

Saw some one wrote about premix and concentrate. I agree that Premix coolant (most are 50% mixing rate) are good enough from all oil majors. Flushing with cleaners might sometimes result in leakages, it might or might not be the coolant and chemicals at fault, as it might just be that for older bikes previous rusted areas had been 'clogged' up by debris.

Be careful about doing your own mixing. Having a more than 70% mixing rate will not be good as above about 75%, the boiling point and freeze point protection actually get worse. (I am referring to EG and PG based Glycols). Also check mfg recomendations, as some chemical contect might not be suitable, depending on the materials used on the bike cooling system and engine (e.g. gasket materials, metal grade)
