Have see all the message on this so far.

Find out that nobody mention about mix use of waterwetter and antifreeze.

For information, u can mix use of waterwetter and antifreeze to gain better result especially for 4T engine because 4T engine best performance in certain temperature range.

If my coolant consume very much faster than my usual normal rate, what could be the most possible cause? Any experts to advice?

Forever always seem to be around when things begin, but forever never seem to be around when they end.

Hi all

I ride a hurricane and have been experiencing problems with an overheated engine.

I have checked with my manuel. Carbs just serviced, i unclogged the radiator and flushed it several million times. Radiator fin working. Cleared rust in the system. Changed coolant several times. Problem still persist!

A few obervations:

Rusting still persist after each change of coolant. I usually add 50% tap water to 50% coolant. Wonder if the rusting is due to non-ionised water. Adding anti-rust didn't help much.

During normal riding, the temp gauge is normal. But everytime after work, when traffic's congested, the temperature starts climbing! Worse when the bike is stationary. Wonder if its because of the type of coolant i use. Does it necessary mean that a more expensive coolant is normally better? Any affordable recommendations?

How about the coolant pump?

Did you check whether your pump is spoil?

The pump circulate coolant from engine to radiator. If the circulation is slow heat will build up.

Don't ask me how to check, because I also don't know. :D

May be you have to ask motorshop mechanic to check for you or ask your friend who you think is an expert for help.

If you know how to check the coolent pump, can teach me also? I like to know how to check too. :D

A piece of advise, don't use tap water, use only distill water, it will not cost you much.

Are you referring to the impeller? Its like a device with 7 fins that rotates everytime the throttle is turned.

To check whether the impeller is working properly, dismantle all necessary parts until you can see your radiator cap. Open the radiator cap and then start ur engine. (pls let the engine cool first before opening the radiator cap).

Rev ur throttle a couple of times. When you rev, the coolant inside ur radiator will rise and may even spill out from your radiator mouth... so remember to put some cloth or newspaper ard it to avoid damaging the other parts of the bike. If you can observe movement down the radiator neck, your impeller is working.

    Hi guys

just like to ask. We know that we shd use distilled water as it is free of minerals and irons which may damage the impeller and encourage rusting

WHERE DO YOU BUY DISTILLED WATER???????

I dun see them at hardware stores (except battery water) so went carrefour to buy those drinking distilled water.

    Any harm using them?

    thanks

    Guys...

i believe you read about my problems i experience with a overheating bike... realise that coolant plays a crucial role in ensuring a effective cooling system.

Changed coolant yesterday and bike was running cool the whole of today!.. well.. except when i was stuck in a jam.. but the temp dropped almost immediately when i started moving again!

I highly recommend: POWER MAX: Tropicool 2... ur source of alternative good quality yet affordable coolant. Selling at $6 bucks for 500 ml. Its silver in color and has a black bottle cap.

    Try to believe!

By the way, i bought a bottle of 1.5l of pure distilled water for $0.95 from carrefour.. so far no problem. try at ur own risk

check out the side of the bottle, theres marking on it.

do your own math, the whole content can treat 18 litres of water

Can treat 18 litres meh, my calculation show only can treat 12 litres of water only.

1 ounce treat 1 quart of water

    1 quart = 0.946 litres

1 bottle has 12 ounces of waterwetter

Therefore only can treat 12 quart or 12 x 0.946=11.35 litres
