Probably Worth while to note that Braking is not as effective as Dry Days.

As such... A slower speed will provide better control.

Give yourself Plenty of Space.

Slot between wide traffic gaps

More time to react & if u skid...

The vehicle behind u have a better chance to miss u.

And do not be in a Hurry...

Visibility is bad

For You & the rest of the Traffic around you.

IF u feel that you need a New Set of Rubber...

It's is a good time now to do it.

i believe u need to run-in a new set of tyres and wet roads are not the best place u want to do it......

better to plan ahead and change them before the raining days so that u can have a proper set of tyres fit for the wet roads ahead.....

All information is provided here with good intentions and to the best of my knowledge and is not liable for any negative effects that might occur due to this information. Thank You.

8 more and you will hit a century of tips. I have always been reading this thread and WOW... :thumb: Keep it up.

Riding on wet condition, I will normally ride a gear higher than usual to avoid lost of rear wheel traction.

Drop to lower gear for engine brake. So I guess have to play around with the gears more. :cheeky:

Thks for the Tip Calvin... :thumb:

ValenYono: Yes...

Droping Gears means better Control...

Especially on wet days... when traction is poor.

Engine brakin' (eg droping gears to slow bike down)

will help prevent skids.

Use of Front brakin' will also help control in wet conditions.

Will organize A Day Ride when

Street smart reaches 100!

Hope u can come along...

It will be for all bikes 150cc or more...

Thks for the Support.

It started with The 1st Post (1st 6 mins)..

Never intended for it to go so far.

Glad it did. Guess it had gone beyound 6min... Ha Ha...

Makes this thread Interesting & Useful.

I had learn much.

Had Kept me on my Bike... not on the tarmac...

Thk U.

This may raise some eye brows...

But it is a position where vehicles on both side keep their distances.

The danger normally comes when cars change lanes.

And Bikes are not expected to be in there way.

It is definately not he position to be at length as

there is no lateral escape routes (sideways)

A High Speed Zoom between 2 vehicles

along the N-S highway

is a High Risk Maneuver.

There is a very small margin for error...

Any error will be costly.

I suppose Tip #93 takes some skill and common sense. I only do it when the other vehicles are not moving because the traffic lights are red for a very long time.

When the traffic lights change to green, I normally try to filter back into a lane where there is space. Of course, I always signal in advance so that I can give time for other drivers to know that I need to use the lane.

i have something that might contribute abit.

I was riding NSR150SP for 1 1/2 yrs since passed my 2b and am now waiting for my 2a tp date.

I dare not say that i am very experienced but what i have gone thru during my short time riding includes (luckily) alot of near-misses.

I am riding a wave now while waiting for my 2a as i am going to be posted overseas for NS soon so the bike will go my dad.

I skided like a snake the 1st day i got my wave and what i am going to say next is what i have learnt. so called "effective braking"

After speaking with my dad on this issue, i learnt from him that if this occurs again, i should press on the front brake for a while (like 2 sec) den release and press it again.

this has something to do with the brake pads not in full contact with the drums (i tink or the metal plate on ur front tire) especially during rainy weathers, so the first time u brake the brake pads are actually "biting" on to the water/dirt and thus decrease efficiency in braking.

By doing wat i did, the first step removes the water/dirt and the second time u press ur brake the pads will actually be in full contact with the drums and thus allow the bike to stop in time without much risk.

Dropping of gears help also and i do this when i was riding SP. However i found out that the wave is much more lighter and so it might be unstable when u drop gears at high speed, thus counter-effective.

Hope this helps :)

An unfortunate incident on the North-South Highway.

All was fine for a Fellow Biker was riding north

till he rides behind this truck carrying old tires.

He then noticed a tyre dropped from the truck.

What's worst the tyre was heading towards him.

As he was traveling fast, there was not much room

and time to get out of the way.

Decides to Hold bike firm & hope for the best.

The next thing he remembers... Sliding on the Road

Towards the Break down lane.

The tyre had hit his bike & cause him to fall.

He escaped with abrasion to his body.

His riding Jacket & Full face helmet took most of the damage.

Would be different if rider slide towards the central divider.

(we are thankful he went the other way)

For some strange reason... the truck pull to the

right lane... before losing his load.

There was no other traffic.

BEKOK WATERFALL RIDE

This should be a Interesting and Enjoyable ride.

Gd mix of Highway & Country(Hornet territory) roads

About a total of 200km to Bekok Falls.

And 150km back.

The BEKOK Falls is not a Big Fall as in Kota Tinggi

But a Series of Mini Falls over Rocks.

Enjoy a relaxing soak in One of the Many Pools

U can move the rocks & creat your own fall...

or trek your way up stream into the jungle.

There are quite a few toilets with tap water.

So your Swim Shorts & a Towel is a must!

A Most Often Heard Explaination In Accidents involving Motorbikes.

"I Didn't See the Bike!"

As if it is the Biker's Fault

That the Motorist did not see Him/Her.

The Real Problem is that the Claim is often True.

But it is not because We are Invisible

But the Motorist is not accustomed to looking out for bikes.

or

Does not know how to judge their Speed & Distances
