@squarebox. I ve no counter to tat. If it came to tat i wouldnt worry about being knock by cars or worry about inconsiderate drivers. I will ride and wear full bullet proof suit and helmet. And i also wont dare lane split or overtake too fast or too sharp. Becoz anytime a car can just pull up beside and "bang". Driving can 1 hand on wheel 1 hand reach for gun. Riding a bit difficult.

How sure are you it was an X1r? And how sure are you the rider passed away? Please do not just come up with a conclusion based on your speculations.

 

Severe limb + that amount of blood + time taken for help to arrive = chances are pretty slim or next to none.

A male can only lose 2 litres of blood before death. Less for females. That is excluding many factors such as environmental conditions, more human stupidness, victim panic. If the victim panic or goes in to shock. Death is as good as certain unless a trained professional is there.

 

Notice the helmet??? Head trauma as well???

The accident happened on PIE. I wonder if it's the Hyundai driver I encounter today that caused the accident...

Not many drivers will risk accidentally shooting their own car up. It's up to the passenger.

But again, it's main purpose is deterrence.

@squarebox. Sry but dun understand wat u mean by "shoot up own car". My post just saying tat car can just try to drive beside u wind down window "bang". To make things easier passager can assist.

 

Bike still need to balance handlebar 1 hand, take out gun (assuming gun is in bag or pocket). If in pocket also got risk "self shoot". If in bag also risk of taking out, other things also fly.

 

So got gun also disadvantage ecoz i worry my actions may give pple wrong impression tat i disturb them. (just ask ur frenz who drives, wat they think of bike lane split, sharp/fast overtaking)

 

So if legal gun in sg, no need wear rain gear. Is wear bullet proof gear. :/

 

Ps: riders we can only do our best to ride defensively. Or in some cases more offensively. As for deterrence, instead of legalizing guns, consider tat e law should take a more proactive role in clamming down on dangerous road users. (note tat i didnt use e word drivers becoz i ve seen my fair share of dangerous riding.)

 

Since pm lee has spoken in regards to e ferrari case. Lets just pray tat it is not just words. I sincerely believe tat our pm lee will ensure tat our roads will become safer!!!!!!!!!

Precisely. Life and death is in the hands of God so lets not speculate. If you must know I too was in an accident with head trauma and even in a comatose condition for 2 days after which I was delirious for months. Doctors even said that my survival is a miracle. You are missing the point. It's about deterrence and not owning guns to kill.

If owning guns as crazy as you put it, why haven't countries that legalise guns self-destruct yet.

Agree tat legalizing guns may create a deterrence factor. But at e same time it creates situations where crazy pr overly stress pple bring guns out and anyhow shoot.

 

E driver may just consider u this rider *** cut my lane or watever and attempt to shoot u. In e past they can try to ram u but cant spd up to catch u. Now got 2nd option.

 

Remember last time when air guns, pellet guns and similar items were not illegal? I recall there were cases of pple using expresway road users as target practice.

Just wish to share this video tat i capture. This is on e expressway. Notice in e lane 2 there is a high intensity blinking light? It is a motorbike.

 

Personally i feel tat although it obviously makes u very visible but at e same time increases e risk. Reasons below.

 

1) cause distraction to others. This may indirectly lead to other incidents.

 

2) sg pple by nature quite kaypo. So will look. Ever experience before u drive/ride, look at something interesting. By e time u realise, ur vehicle has drifted. This may indirectly cause a vehicle to drift into u unknowingly.

 

Of coz, yes i noe yes i agree. E vehicle tat drift into u due to such distraction is at fault. But e one who dies or get hurt is e rider.

 

3) i suspect tat if e vehicle directly will be quite irritated by e blinking light. E video quality not very good an yet e intensity is quite high. 1st view will likely be higher intensity.

I more scare riding. thankfully sg small so law should still able to control. Thus wont like some countries got safe an danger zones. But still never noe when someone will trigger happy.

 

But then gov will ve another avenue of revenue. Sell guns, ammo an bulletproof stuff. ^^

Today, around 8.45am on zion road going from great world towards keppel. Saw this merc female driver. From a few car lengths already notice the car hesitate, travel on about 1 and 2/5 lanes keep moving around within this 1 and 2/5 lane space.

 

The 2 car behind the merc on both lanes for some reason, the only action they do was meekly follow behind and constant erratic braking behaviour. (It was due to this 2 car's braking behaviour then i notice the merc in front) No horn, NO KEEPING OF EXTRA SAFE DISTANCE.

 

So i high alert, extra space, quickly cut to the left of the merc and saw. HANDPHONE... dunno wat brand, dunno smart or dumb phone, but the driver constantly glance down.

 

1) So 3 long horn, (Traffic was ok becoz the 2 "nice" drivers behind the merc, braking and keep traffic away from me)

2) Turn quarter to the right

3) Out stretch right arm index finger pointing at the merc

4) Saw the lady saw my action immediately drop her phone 2 hand on driving wheel

5) Move off

 

Sometimes i wonder y other road users dun horn to alert this type of road users. It is a dangerous behaviour and in this case, i suspect the lady driver didn't realise wat she was doing... =( After my alerting her, she drive properly le...

Becoz mostly sg pple ve mentality tat we dun care, we dun bother, we bo chup. ^^ so got someone bother to alert them (like scolding), they will be very surprise. There are those tat still bo chup...

 

Some also blur thought tp stop them even though our bikes may not look like tp bike... So will shock first. Positive scenario r those tat noe they r in the wrong but may/may not realise and immediately drive/ride properly. (I do this type of "scolding" to bikes too) Very common type. Sadly, my opinion is mostly sg pple not tat brave. No one confront them, they will yaya papaya. Once pple stand up to them, they become mouse. Typical bully behaviour.

 

Negative scenario r those who do not noe or realise they r in the wrong. And when others (Me) point it out to them, they dun care, dun bother, bo chup and carry on as usual still in their wrong way of driving. Medium lvl of common.

 

Worst scenario r those who same as negative scenarios, but turn nasty. Rare type but encounter before.

 

Few years back when on s4 spec 1 with my pillon (gf). At the newton circus tat roundabout, i was coming from novena going to orchard. Was on lane 2 all the way. The roundabout is 3 lanes with the left turn left only. Middle lane is straight or left and right lane right only. This auntie dunno wat car, with a young daughter in car nearing the turn left into orchard from right lane cut into my lane to go into the turning to orchard.

 

Thankfully i was already turning thus i just needed to adjust more. If i was going straight then accident le. So reach the traffic light, i caught up, horn horn and told the auntie off sternly. No vulgarities (Try not to use vulgarities or middle fingers if wan to do this type of alert on road. Especially now in car video very common) But the auntie turn nasty and scold me in return even though obviously she in the wrong. Somemore i only told her off sternly. She is scold me in typical auntie scolding pattern.

 

So LL, no evidence or anything, just focus on getting away from her car since i suspect she lousy driver. So light green i go. She chiong and cut me dangerously AGAIN... and e brake... But i was already prepared becoz of the way she reacted.

 

Ya sg got this type of drivers. Rare but they exist. Be careful if u wan to follow my pattern to alert other road users on the road. If situation dun seem right, run and be high alert.

 

ps: thanks for thinking its a good job btw. some will think kaypo also. so be mentally prepared. and always make sure situation allows. for every single time i did this, there are many more times tat i didn't.

There are just too many drivers talking on the phone when they drive. Which brings me to where are the authorities when you need them? There was once I stopped beside a car at a junction since the light was red after I saw the driver was on the phone awhile back with erratic driving. Tap on the driver's window but the driver just ignored as tho he did not hear.:what:

 

Sad to say this but most drivers do could care less about our safety. I was once almost ran down by a driver who was on the 3rd lane and suddenly decided to swerve to the the right not wanting to miss the right turn ahead without even signalling all while I was on the 2nd lane just beside it. I had to swerve to the right ended in me mounting the kerb. Mentality of driver "its ok if riders get hurt as long as he does not miss the turn".

There are just too many drivers talking on the phone when they drive. Which brings me to where are the authorities when you need them? There was once I stopped beside a car at a junction since the light was red after I saw the driver was on the phone awhile back with erratic driving. Tap on the driver's window but the driver just ignored as tho he did not hear.

 

Tap again? Still no response horn lightly. Still no response horn long. Still no response horn long and point point with thumbs down. Nothing else we can do. Never try to stop e driver by force like stopping in front of e car with ur bike. NEVER
