talking abt engines and engine repair...? why do people in sg especially..when they overhaul their engine they have to do "running in"?

how come my mechanic when he overhauls my engine he says"dun bother with running in" instead he säys "go and whack the bike to the max" this i dunt understand...and true enuf..when ii do...i dunt get any piston jam or seize. the bike runs very well....and better i mite add. excuse my lack of experience....this is a question i've been meaning to ask....

 

ok :faint: running in only needs to be done when u have a new piston+ring in the cylinder block..

when everything is new, the material needs time to adjust to the newly rebored block.. :sian: so tats y.. :) they do this so tat the debris of the new piston wont be sumpt up to your transmission helicals thus expanding / sparing your engine life.. plus they advice u to change engine oil before u whack the bike cos u dont want the debris in the cylinder block.. your engine will be rough and further scratching your newly rebored block boy.. :cheers:

when i used the standard main jet...and rode for a distance at high speed...gave a hole in the piston the size of abt 2 50cent coins...now i use big jet...ride very shiok....petrol...doesnt really bother me...coz afterall...how big is ur tank and how much petrol can it use up...nt like as if its a car....

hahaah i think u got mixed up between engine and block bro..

main jet - is in your carb

engine - is the one situated at your underbone sub-frame.. your gearing and

major components at

 

engine is only lubed with ONLY your E.O aka engine oil / 4t.. nothin to do with fuel and 2t bro..

aiyoh...dun say i mech leh...paisey....well...jokes aside...based on my experience...there is a lot of diff types of mech, ppl and opinions...and i always believe anything is possible...just needed the explanation on the theory for i honestly most of the time cannot put mech things into words to explain to ppl or can i say my customers........cheers...ride safe

i just run in mine new piston also.. but i whack home yesterday night... mileage on my Z was 500km before i whack it.. anyway i went to get a 240 size main jet already.. i will see if there is much difference on my FC.. but i think if you dont whack, there wont be much difference.. but if you ride fast, maybe the FC will be more heavier..

Throwing more fule into the fire does not give the fireman less stress rite???

More Lube goes to ur E.O./4t for ur engine and 2t for ur piston..

Now my bike standing more straight and balance now on ground. My mech bend the piece whereby we step to pull up the main stand. Maybe give it a try...

my bike wobble alot in high speed..... how can i make my handling better? my bike will wobble like snake.. before i change my tire, 120km/h is the max i can go.. after i change my tire, slighty better.. but 130km/h it start to wobble again.. how can i improve my handling? or where do i have to check? my bike is running on 18in spoke rim.. or is it the spoke rim that cause it like this? this is a 10 year old bike FR plate.. all stock standard... i recently just change my swing arm bushing only...

 

i used to ride another FV plate RXZ with 18in sports rim.. it handles well all the way until 145km/h..

 

can help me with this?

Just recovered frm my accident. :cry: Last Sunday over east area got heavy rain. In marine parade area i skidded. Haiz. Got my RXZ head broken and shattered. Side wise not much damage, only the cluth broke. Managed to get it for $4 and fix it myself. But for my RXZ head, i just use wire and abit aluminium tape to fix and use temp. Ask shop,1 shop say $90, anthr say $65. My fren say ah boy selling for $35. Most prob getting it and doing myself. Any broz have any idea how much will it cost in malaysia? If can i take a pic of my damage and post it tmr.

hmmm watever it is.. wat i believe is tat u never open/ hands on before on your carb lah.. :faint:

 

well its very easy to troubleshoot actually really.. wat happen is u never really actually did the proper alignment of e pin jet slider.. if u see properly theres a groove to it.. and if u really do it proper, the groove should meet this small needle which is hidden in the carb and sit.. :sweat:

carb lining is not so easily eaten as its only role is, it only goes up and down the chamber when u open throttle or close. :sorry: but rubbish if u ask me. tat senario would only happen like 0.5 out of 10..

second hand carb for 70?? or 17?? wah if u buy 70 tat is close to the price of a first hand genuine carb.. kanna chop liao.. :clapping: :bow:

 

i be collecting the remaining sets of stickers tmr after i end work at 8am.. those whom i still owe please get back to me.. many thanks..

Abt the sticker, I can easily liase wif Pendek to get hold of ur sticker(10 pieces of it rite?). But not sure how am I gonna pay for it coz haven't gotten any news from ur newly made Spore fren...

Hmmm... Reminded me of 1 fellow forumer's past experience. Got bike serviced at "trusted" mechanic, mechanic forgot to put back 2t hose, piston seized, rider confused and send back shop to check, mechanic said piston seized due to not enough 2t, got rider to pay for the whole rebore, piston, piston rings and service... And yes, another running in session, tat's the worst...:faint:

how to maintain a healthy engine if i always ride it for long distance? eg, east to west..

 

i only know using more 2T will help..

 

you think using bigger main jet will give the engine less stress when maintaining high speed for a long distance? if yes how big?

...

healthy engine = service your bike often.

more 2t= smokey exhaust pipe and dirty your own shirt.

more 2t on premix= bike hard to start and bobok feeling when riding plus the others on top.

bigger main jet= only lets more fuel to enter when you open the throttle and nothing to do with engine stress.

engine stress= spocket size front and rear, tyre size and body weight.

u whack or dont whack still FC higher then your previous main jet size.

cheapest should be $30+ SGD with lights. JB need to ask my fren cos he famous for breaking his head fairing.

should be around RM50 +/-
