hi bro out there, just wanna check u all, does ur VFR rectifier and coil get burnt or spoilt easily?
mine burnt once. just make sure your headlights are on all the time.

-the 6th gen has a 480w alternator to cater for additional accessories.

-headlights only consume 110w.

-that leaves 370w.

-minus say about 100w for your engine, that leaves 270w.

-that 270w has to go somewhere so its wasted as heat.

-heat kills your coil.

if headlight keep blowing, shd be rectifier that went kaput. if don't change rectifier than coil will become kaput. my bulbs have lasted me more than 1.5 years.

next time i change tyres at ah boy. but need to carry tyres around you and ride to workshop right?

To all 6th Gen VFR owners: how do you lock your helmet to your VFR? I figured it is a royal pain in the a$$ to remove and put back the one-piece seat every time. Plus your helmet becomes a nice fish bowl if it rains.

I am thinking of using a chain (or modding a laptop cable lock) to lock the helmet (through the chin bar) to the top triple clamp. The helmet will be sitting upright on the tank - I might wrap it in a plastic bag in case it rains. This way the only way to remove the helmet is to cut the chain (requires cutters), remove the triple clamp (too difficult and time consuming) or break the chin bar (makes the theft pointless). Of course a determined and well-equipped thief can steal anything, even the entire bike. But the chain is a good deterrence against petty thieves, no?

trust me.. i been through this phrase.. where i even go ah boy buy helmet lock and later find it doesn't fit anyway... haha.. best way is still fix a box. even if they didn't steal your helmet.. if u see your helmet destory or damage in the process of stealing.. u also sian 1/2 one

Maybe I'll try with my "even if I lose it I won't feel pain" helmet, while procuring panniers and mounting racks. (And a new helmet which I won't lock on the bike!)

Anyway I encountered a weird problem with my VFR yesterday / today. The bike seemed to lose power intermittently around 3-5k rpm. Then there was once I accelerated hard off a traffic light (went into 4-valve mode) and then engine braked to the next light. I thought I heard a pop (either going over a stone or a backfire, I couldn't tell) and at the light the engine was sputtering at 1k rpm! My idle was set at 1.3k rpm (slightly high, I know). I revved the engine slightly and it refused to rev up. The exhaust gas also smelled funny. When the light turned green I throttled up to go, and once it hit a healthy 5k rpm the problem went away. It didn't happen again at the next light.

So I wonder if there is something wrong with the fueling system (maybe injectors?) or the fuel itself (water in the petrol after long period of low usage)? Anyone encountered similar problems?

And by the way I cannot adjust the idle screw for the life of me. Can't turn it at all even with a screwdriver. Any tips on that?

When is your last servicing on the injectors?

You might hav a choke injector or dirty fuel filter, have a mech to check first.

Mine was due to a dirty fuel filter that choke the fuel line, try STP gas treatment. Might or might not cure but not harm using it first.
