i'm one of the guys who did desewer's bike...hehe...cannot help being a bit proud of the final product...haf 2 agree wif wat sum1 said-"the end product depends A LOT on preparation". The sandpapering alone took 1day plus..Removin the stickers took quite a while. At 1 pt so sian tt used paint remover on one of the fairings. Of course din leave it for too long-enuf to eat the lacquer covering the sticker.Managed to remove the stickers but make my own life diff cuz had to putty the freakin thing, wait 1 day to dry, then sand down til smooth..NB....Anyway, did use a sand-buffer but ultimately in my opinion u need to use ur hands for tt final smooth finish.

I dunno abt which spray paint is better 2 use. It was between RJ and Pylox. But my dad who taught me how 2 sprayed said tt Pylox if appplied and dried properly after sprayin doesnt dissolve as easy as RJ when kena petrol.Dunno how true..Anyway i like the consistency of Pylox. But muz admit Pylox spray cans rather high tendency for cans to b spoilt so muz buy extra in case. Others like Anchor when abt to finish the paint comes out in sputters...screws up the paint job. B4 sprayin muz apply a solvent on to the surface to b sprayed to get rid of any oils on the surface cuz the paint wont stick. This means u cant touch wif ur fingers even!Thks to the guy who suggested rubbing alcohol...din thk of tt...hehe...useful info for next time.

Oh yes, the finished gloss lies in the skilled hands of the sprayer...hehe...BHB..parallel lines and follow contours..After my exams gonna experiment wif applyin real lacquer on the paint job...getting airbrush n compressor then..woo hooo!!!Hope wat i had to comment wud b useful..if not can alway PM me or desewer for extra help...latttteeeeeeeeeee............:goodluck:

OhhrHomb: The tank is easiest to spray...u ridin SP rite?cant rmbr...anyway,SP very curvy...diff to use stickers unless u go autoworld buy those ex stickers tt u can use heat to make it mold to the shape...heard abt it from my cuz...use paint remover to remove all the paint til base metal...wash wif soap...dry...apply solvent...spray 1/2 base coat then spray the color u want...clear paint...dry...finish...

Anyway, forgot to say u betta spray when there is sun or u haf a good hair dryer...the gloss when done properly wud b enhanced by heat..

By the way desewer...MOTOR MAKKEL GIler....hehehe!!!!!!:cheeky: :goodluck:

huh?

grease for other parts maybe bah...but for tyres better not bahz :cheeky:

anyway this method sounds new to me...so after applying grease and spraying over the parts...isnt it quite tough to remove the grease? use degreaser?

it's not that hard. just use mama lemon or kitchen stove cleaner and a tooth-brush :)

For the tyres, yah, better use good ol' tape and newspaper

off the fuel tap and let the bike run for ard 1-2min for the fuel in the fuel tube to be used up 1st...

then distach the fuel tank frm the fuel tank and proceed to take out screws for fuel tank

after the tank is loosen...lift it up slightly and u should see a cable which is yr fuel gauge cable...

disconnect the cable then the whole tank is free

oh i see.

just to double confirm ah,

so all in all got 2 cable to disconnect right? 1 being the fuel gauge cable and the other being the tube which feed petrol to the engine right?

all are beneath the tank wan ah?

thanks!

Sure they don't do it themselves? cos I saw just saw the spray parts out in the workshop, like for drying...

BTW, how to tell the difference between a spray-can job and a air-brush one? Cos, some of the sprays you had done looks really good.

okie typical question..but good one. :D

spraycan: glossy but not as glossy as 2k finish...but enuff to please the general ppl

airbrush/gun: showroom gloss...able to polish or fine sand...wax..etc...

the difference....after time the wear and tear will tell you the difference...thats the difference when you pay $20 for 5 cans of paint...and hundreds to get it done professionally. end of the day its your decision. :D

it essentially functions like super-fine sandpaper. we're talking abt 5000 grit or so. You apply it like wax, and buff it off. Gives your paint job extra gloss.

Can also be used to remove minor scratches.
