Hi guys, I'll be getting my CBR150 from a friend in about a weeks time and from what I know he haven't serviced the bike in quite a while. Is there a specific breakdown to what is included in a full servicing?

Furthermore top speed only can hit 100-110km/h and I am wondering how to get it back to its original 140km/h on average. Thanks!

anybody change radiator before? my bike gets very hot when stuck in jam, temp can go up to red if stucked long enough.

price guide?

Nope. bring to mechanic to check if your water pump is working.. Then try flush coolant change new one see if it helps.

Pls bring to mechanic and ask him to check fully what may be wrong.. basic service change engine oil spark plug, check air filer, check braise, check chain and sprocket.

If cannot hit top speed or struggle to means engine going to spoil already..

What is the differences of SP and CBR?

Other than the 2 strokes and 4 strokes, how can I tell the different from the exterior?

Just passed my 2B and looking for a 4-5 Years CBR, budget is 2.5k.

Please advice. Thanks...

hi guys, juz wanna share my experience doing up my bike at JB.

its my 1st time owning a personal veh and 1st time doing engine repairs, i dont have much experience

on few days before chinese new year, my cbr was in bad shape, unable to start with just few presses of the electric starter, meaning i have to press it repeatedly then it will start.

went to AGL 2 days before cny, went to 1 shop called "HOU HENG" which is nearer at the entrance, the boss is very friendly but since i came in at arnd 1o clock, the boss say he got no time to change my gasket.

without further ado, i went up and drop by this shop at the corner of the 1st left turn. they offered me 300RM. since every shop was closed, i decided to take up their offer. saying that they will change the gasket, clean up the engine block, piston , service carburettor. opening up the engine the mechanic says that my piston is scratching the side of the engine block, he say not necesarrily to change new engine block, juz bore up the engine block(he say there will be a possibility of piston jammed) and he mentioned a price of 500RM and the bike has to stay overnight, after long discussion with my friend i decided not to do it. After i waited for 2 hrs, the sparkplug cap which was half torn(but still can be used), the mechanic purposely went to tear the cap because he say the cap cant be used anymore. aft which he went back and find a spark plug cap, but since cbr's plug cap was rather special, the one he brought was without the cap on top. anyway he self made the cap and fixed it. afterwhich the engine started up and lots of rattle noise which came from the plug cap, i was really pissed off tht time and i ask him how. he went back to fix it, lesser rattling noise therefore i decided to let it go. the plug cap he said it'll cost me 25rm but in the he discounted me, total spent was 300rm.

I went home and glued back my plug cap, changed to the original glued cap by myself, was much better. definitely i wont be coming to their shop again.

after a few months of riding, the problem came back, starting the bike was again a chore. so i decided to bring it to AGL again since this month im on a very tight budget.

drop by HOU HENG at 3PM on 1/jun/2012. The boss asked his mechanic and to open the engine. the mechanic called me and told me that the previous person screwed the screw slanted between the pipe header and engine block and he dont dare to take out, because the screw might break. The boss came and he opeened it smoothly when he opened my engine he said the gasket wasnt changed and i was damn shocked. and also the piston is rubbing against the engine block, he said no worries, he will bore it for me and change the piston and piston ring. I left my bike there for 7 hours, everything was done up well even my windscreen he helped me to do. Overall experience with the shop, was really really exellent. the boss is really honest and i asked him about my friends gsxr1k brake. he say can try and do. in fact at night around 1 we went back and he fixed it at just 65RM compared to service in singapore which will cost him 250++SGD changing the whole brake set.

Overall breakdown of my TOP OVERHAUL:

Labour fee 90RM

Gasket cost 78RM

Bore up engine block 25RM

Original Piston n ring 146RM

Spark plug 16RM

Voltronic EO 49RM

Radiator coolant 22RM

Original Clutch cable 58RM

sand and spray pipe 10RM

Some of the free things he did for me :

Changed ignition coil with one tht i brought(one that i brought came attached with cbr's cap)

Fixed up my shaking windscreen

topup rear brake liquid

asked lottttttttttttts of my question with patient!!

Overall experience with the shop : as far the best shop ever for customer service and price. really wont chop, trust him fully. cause thats the way he ran business for 10yrs(my friend asked him, l o l)

now bike feel much more powerful and much lesser trembling.

btw im selling my V3 PROTEC Ignition coil for 20sgd, bought it at 30. lots of pulsar used this, very good coil, much better response than the stock coil.

Interesting at AGL... wa the EO RM49! Must be very good one fly into the sky.

Besides JB, is there any reputable shop in SG that does top overhauls at competitive prices? I think I might need to send mine in real soon.

Bikeworkz.. forever crowded.. super long waiting time.. but does a reasonably good job for competitive price.

Piston, piston rings, gaskets, valves, valve seal, other parts such as cam chain, tensioner or other stuff depends whether you want to change or not. Difference is bike will be powerful and responsive once the wear and tear parts have been changed.

from my kind of understanding. they will open up ur engine and tell u the parts that needs replacement. if engine still ok, no reason for u to top overhaul though. haha

hi, sorry i know i have been posting on and off, anyway the shop Hou Heng is my frequent shop. It has been that since my first bike(2009) anyway I wanna share my latest lobang with fellow CBR riders

I have established contacts in thailand to purchase original Honda CBR 150R parts including fairings. Also on my previous post I also got bearings set for the whole bike from the german company FAG.

Ah-Di the boss is very happy to install the parts for you with a service charge. But of course you have to buy the correct parts lah if not god also cannot install for you.

You can PM me if you need parts and maybe we can mass order together to save on the parts and shipping.

good to hear that 2 of the bros here are enjoying the good service from Hou Heng Ah Di.

he may not be the cheapest around but he's good.

once he recognises u as regular customer, he don't mind helping u make minor adjustments or provide free 'consultation' for bike issues.
