so far I never used the choke, seems not necessary especially in this climate where it doesn't really cool down a lot...

got to wait for Nils to come back from his trip to confirm, but i think it's this saturday afternoon at 10 mile junction.

over to you, Nils.

seems I'm mr organiser these days? Sat 2pm at 10 mile junction CCK, preparation for Kukup trip on sun apr 6. So far confirmed: Zed, Don and moi... wanna join, just let us know and show up around 2 pm at above location :thumb:

btw, dont think this will be all afternoon affair...short meet up and then Zed (our master technician) will show me how to lube chain... gawd, I sound like a serious newbie - never lube chain :slapforehead:

that's how it's supposed to work. you normally pull it before you start if you normal idiling is low.

asking information from you is like taking water from Niagara Falls. you have had more salt than i've had rice. =P

should be 1. the ignition coil provides the voltage build up for the high voltage required for the spark plug. we only have 1 spark plug, thus one wire.

why did you mechanic recommended to change? i kinda of think they're taking you for a ride since you seem to have the ability ($) to change what the tell you to.

I'm also curious. This is not a part that easily spoils and your bike not that old ... seems you have a lot of changes/repairs (either cause of personal choice or cause of things break). I guess what they say is true: if it aint spoilt, dont fix it :thumb:

Say I'm 20 already? And again holding a P-plate, how much ah? IS it only NTUC have? IS the price u said above comprehensive or third-party?

Best advice is just to give them a call. 5 minutes and you have a comprehensive answer rather than our speculations/experiences which may not be very precise?

Interesting but does this relate to cars or bikes? I think its commonly know that cars work best around 90 km/h but not sure same goes for our bike? I guess the most important to see from this is that once u pass that point of good efficiency it is pretty much down hill fast as the speed increases...

on that note, what is the most efficient rpm to change gear? 4k? 5k? We can review top speeds but I think many burn most fuel when wacking the throttle and speeding up to that high speed...

i feel that low RPM change should go hand in hand with throttle opening.

Scenario 1: throttle opened 50%, RPM change 4K.

Scenario 2: throttle opened 20%, RPM change 4K.

i would think that scenario 2 would take longer to get up to speed, but be more fuel efficient as overall the throttle is kept on conservative.

reiterates my point of hard acceleration and breaking is an inefficient way of driving, both bike and cars. and so goes people slapping themselves and asking why it hurts when they zip from one red light to another.

oh, my last 3 FC calculations are: 50Km/L, 46Km/L and 48Km/L.

normal meh?

a choke valve in a combustion engine is meant to 'choke' the flow of air, hence it's name, to modify the fuel to air ratio, causing the mixture to be fuel rich.

this is done when having difficulties to start up a motor, when it has to overcome the cold engine parts and the settled oil.

what happened in your case is that the engine has already started, and the airflow was suddenly reduced from choking. with the choke on, and engine restarted, you will notice that your idling RPM would be higher, and the exhaust would smell of petrol.

Yeap, veri veri normal - I always pull my choke to start & shut b4 moving off after a few mins. I remember in cold countries - u may hv to start yr bike or car with choke & warm up for at 5-10mins b4 driving off. :)
