Kifakw, from my first time experience of changing brake pads, I advice you not to change the both front and rear brake pads at the same time. Coz if you get the new 1, there will be a season of 1 day for the brake pad to be used effectively.

That time I did change rear only, and its like not working at all unless press it very very hard. But luckily I didnt change the front 1, so I still can use the front brake.

Btw, why did you change your front brake pads? Are you using it very often? I never use the front brake 1, unless emergency.

hahaha I didn't change in the end cause i think it'll be better to get stock from LAB and diy myself the next time round.

Our front brake is much more effective than our rear brake in terms of stopping distance.

The brake disc in front are slight bigger and if you use too much force on the rear brake, it tends to fishtail. I fishtailed a few times before already cause i don't really know how much rear brake can go. :thumb:

Regards,

kifakw

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

the workmanship, HMM how do i say? hahaha it's normal lo?

just change tyres only, nothing much hahaha.

my rear currently stands at 110/80-17 and front is 80/90-17.

according to ah chong, 110/80-17 can corners better than 110/70-17 since the sidewall is much more about 10% or so.

Dono what is the normal price though. hehehe...

Btw, I just check throughly my tyres, rear is 110/80 and front 90/80. Noticed that on the rear tyre stating that its for front wheel using only. How about yours?

Guys, ride safely. Road is not for playing.

WOW.. You are so cool. I dont dare to DIY for the brake thingy. I feel its too dangerous unless Im really expert on it.

Actually I dont understand what is fishtail means. Pai seh... Do u mind to teach this fool what is fishtail means?

Btw, I feel more comfortable using rear brake as it does not cause .... (body move towards front). Dono what is the word to describe it. Pai seh....

hahaha, the brake seems quite okay lei. but ya lah it's still very dangerous. but surely after diy-ing or what, make sure that that thing works before going in OTR.

ya initially my rear tyre has the markings "FOR FRONT WHEEL ONLY", and i asked him about it he said it's okay cause it's like the front tyre for other bigger bikes like the GSR or what. but i had it changed cause he asked me why i dont want to get tt900GP cause it was another model of dunlop initially.

fishtail means like, when you slam too hard on your rear brake, it will cause the rear wheel to locked up thus like skidding left right left right like that. when you are in school if you are in ssdc, the instructors does it alot but they never fall down. i feel that locking your rear is manageable as compared to locking your front, front once locked means flung off from your bike already.

so some bikes has this technology called ABS (anti lock braking system) which prevents it from locking up. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

most of the car today has this function as compared to bikes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-lock_braking_system

yeah i understand what you are saying, law of physics. you prefer using the rear brake so that your body does not move forward alongside with the de-acceleration as when you are braking.

maybe if you really like rear braking as compared to front braking. you can invest in something like a bigger disc brake and a better brake calliper with good brake pads. so that you can stop in a shorter distance with more braking force as compared to stock ones.

it is true that front breaks are more efficient as we can build the breaking force on the forks, which will absorb it, allowing us to gradually break harder.

like yourself, i also prefer to use the rear breaks as we don't jerk forward too much. it also gives the pillion rider a smoother ride, unless we're pillioning a top-heavy girl. =P

Does this mean your TT900GP tyre does not state "for front wheel only"? Mine is also TT900GP, but its stated on the tyre.

Thx alot for describing what is fishtail means. :) I did fishtail 2X b4, but it was b4 I change and service my rear brake as well as changing my tyre. Since then, I hve never fishtail liao. :)

changing to steel break hoses are the easiest and most common part to change when increasing breaking power. just ask Derrick.

then we can also change, as you mentioned, break calipers, pads, and maybe a radial Master Cylinder. and then again you'd might as well buy a Brembo setup.

Yes it's TT900GP right now. Later i check for you k?

But don't worry as long as you know it's dunlop and tt900GP be it front or rear as long as the correct size can already!

Invest in a good brake callipers like brembo and brake pads like EBC, it will aid u in stopping :bounce: :bounce:

introduce yourself btw.

O.O seems like alot of things to buy to get a good braking full kit.

hahaha, if it's a pretty lady pillioning. All the more you should brake harder on your front brake to :shades: :shades: :shades:

but oh wells, our bike height difference of rider's seat and pillion's seat it's like so much higher though.

For Pilot sporty, how fast does it wears off like roughly how many thousand Kms?

The difference between Pilot and BT its about $20 - $30 whereas for dunlop its like around $50 - $60.

i use one month need to change liao, not very lasting for pilot sporty

I'm using pilot sporty, just the way u want it..

Front 90/80 - 17 (Stock Size 80/90)

Rear 100/80 - 17 (Stock Size 100/80)

I changed it since 22nd Dec last year til now. costed me $150 front & back

1. its still lasting quite well. u know brand new tires, they got those "hairs" sticking out right? til now, they are still not totally gone.. still have those "hairs" on mine..

2. after chging to these pair.. i've never fish tail before so far.. *touch wood*

so i guess its considered good enough for me..

gd for u
