i guess u may be facing the same problem as i do

either the timing chain or the piston rings have gone loose overtime

i do get this noise after a few seconds when i cold start the bike

thats why im now pretty sure i will send it for major maintenance soon

:cheeky:

Are you suggesting me to do major maintainance as well? :cheeky:

david your bike FBB plate right? If my FBB which had ran for almost 32k KM and does not need any major maintenance, what maintenance does your bike needs? unless you are telling me you have brought that Fbb bike up to 60k in mileage.

My FBB plate run only 16k+ km. I dont know whether my bike need any major maintainance or not, I am just asking Don. :cheeky:

Today, I still heard that stupid noise, but not for long. After ride about half an hour, its gone.

it may be the Chain Tensioner that needs to be changed ............... :cheeky:

Uncle lim, do you think changing the Chain Tensioner might solve my problem? :help: :help:

knn Everfit sold me the tensioner for $30. should have bought at half price from you the other time.

it's straight forward to DIY, but you'll need some specific tools to remove the centre screw from the old tensioner.

i changed my tensioner for 80 bucks ley. now who is cheated? me or you?

Guys, you 2 changed to the stock Chain Tensioner, right? Can teach me how to see whether the CT is stock or not, please... :cheeky:

Btw, saw a small cute vespa kena bang by taxi at orchard rd last nite after movie. Ride girl pillion, somemore still p plate. But both rider n pillion are safe. Didnt really know how they kena bang. The taxi driver looks innocent n not saying sorry. I really really did wish that accident happen in my hometown.

Dono why LTA is not very strict to taxi driver. Taxi drivers should be banned if they involved in any accident, so they will be very very careful.

HI Guys, I have officially sold off my bike this morning and is now declared CBR-less...

But no worries.. I wun boycott SBF and will still hang ard here..

Meetup wise, unless its into JB, u guys can still jio me along.. I will still join u all if I can..

And, thanks for the trip last night..

Although some got lost, but was still quite interesting..

I mean, how often will u have experience standing on a Malaysia Highway waiting for things to happen?

Plus the passing rain (Maybe heaven was tearing for me lol), jam and all..

And to Derrick & Wandi, sorry for losing my cool in the end..

I guess due to fatigue + the fact that I was drenched that made me lose it..

Hope u guys dun take it to heart..

Simply a case of miscommunication..

Btw, I strongly strongly strongly encourage all of u guys to change to AirHorns instead of using the stupid stock horn that wun-help-at-all-when-u-most-need-it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dangerous Encounter:

During my last ride to the bikeshop this morning, I was riding at the right-most lane..

then theres a coach on my left lane, just beside me...

suddenly, he swing right into my lane then i HORN HORN HORN HORN HORN HORN HORN & STILL HORNING!!! BUT WTH?!?!?! he cun hear me at all!!!!

Of cos, i was braking at the same time... imagine if he dun hear me and i dun brake at the same time, he will knock me right into the centre divider.. the rest u all can think of it lah...

Next thing i did was i follow that coach until a red light, i stopped beside him and shout at him..

"OEI u wan to kill me is it???"

then he keep saying sorry and insist he never see me.. and when i say i horn like mad he claim he nv hear..

and of cos, with our this kind of stupid stock horn, who will hear? less a COACH!!

So My Advice to All: Please Change to Air Horn!!

Stock Horn will fail at the most critical time when u MOST NEED IT!!!

i don't know how to tell if the tensioner is stock, but let's just say that unlike sprockets of chains, i have not seen after market tensioner.

our bike is a machine, full of moving mechanical parts. sounds are definitely going to be part of the setup. if you don't find anything out of place when riding, you may be putting too much thought in to this.

i just don't wish for you to change hundreds of $ worth of various parts over the next few months only to learn later that it was actually a loose nut.

may i ask.. where to get racing@after market footrace for cbr 150.. other acc like bubble screen..etc..

both objects should be able to be bought from Ah Boy.

racing footrest Don buy before, now Derrick using.

bubble Derrick bought from Ah Boy, now using.

no prizes to guess who the racer is, right Wandi?

new piston ah Don?

no la

dont tink will go to extent of changing new piston if the current one is still alright

im looking at piston ring, the 2 valves (check clearance or replacement?) & timing chain.

tink these alone is going to set me back by quite abit esp when im changing chain & sprocket + rear tyre soon

signs of a failing tensioner is when rattling sounds are heard when the bike engine is idling in neutral gear.

for my case, i got the tensioner changed at around 62,000km when i 1st took over the bike. now im hearing the rattling sound only when bike is yet to be fully warmed up (note the difference).

31,000km later, i am now considering doing a major service due to the high mileage on my ride. i read on the internet on the frequency of replacement of timing chain. apparently it is smth like 100,000km for cars. i suppose it's going to be pretty similar for bikes as well. and since the engine is going to be pretty dismantled to replace the timing chain, i thought i might as well get the piston rings done up too. :p

if i were you, i'd go to the authorized dealers to get a tensioner. costs smth like $25 and DIY the change. this is to really experiment if it's the tensioner thats causing the rattling on yr ride. if it is, then u solved yr problem using the cheapest solution. if no, then can consider getting yr ride's inners checked. no doubt a low mileage bike is less likely to give problems, but u never knw when sh.it happens and the bike wasnt assembled properly in the factories.

this losing rear brake effectiveness thingy applies for both 'Yoshimura' (as per feedback by Aman74) and Racing Boy footrests (as per my own experience).

i guess nothing beats the stock footrests in terms of fit.

strangely enough, some of the NSR150SP riders report no loss in braking effectives after changing to racing footrests.

this is so even when our cbr150 uses the same racing footrest as nsr150sp.

second to this idea. whether its their fault or not it doesn't matter. should suspend them while investigations are still on going.
