Monster 400cc year 2005

Hi guys!

I went to survey for a Monster for my gf, and i found out that there's difficulty in finding a 2nd hand one. (anyone interested to sell ? )

 

However i was informed that the new Monster 400, will be Fuel injection series. and the block, cam, can be upgraded to a 600cc. engine...

 

Is this good or bad ? how will the fuel consumption be ?

Let's ignore as the bike will only be coming in july +/ - .. but theoretically, can we explain about the fuel consumption vs the tank size ? or both 400 and 600 have the same tank capacity?

The 400, 620 and 1000 shares the same frame tank, so you can actually drop a 1000cc engine in if you want. The 400cc Monster is an underbored version of the 620 engine, so you can "undo" this underbore by fitting the bigger bored top from a 620 engine, change the pistons etc, costs about 2k.

 

Fuel capacity for newer bikes is smaller than the older ones, at around 15.5 litres. Fuel consumption is around 21-24km/litre depending on usage. Newer bikes have lighter clutch, crisper response and better brakes due to upgrades. The Dark version is lower than the standard verison too. Costs about 14k machine price.

 

The S4 and S4R has a different frame and tank though, so you can't drop a 916 or 996 engine into your M400.

Well, whatever the case, I hope there will still be people buying the 400cc monster. Its really not a bad bike, and with deligent maintenance, its a very reliable bike too. Its so simple, nothing will break down unreasonably, unlike the bigger Ducatis with more electronics.

 

And its excellent around town too.

There is ... it's gonna be fuel injection ..... heard the machine price is slightly higher than the normal 400

Yes! i'm buying .. i like the agent maintenance concept .... cheaper than any 400 sportbikes ... but the depreciation is quite scary .. so i decided to buy a 2nd hand one ..... (cash if possible) and then can keep the bike for quite long .. wonder if i can transfer my number 17 plate to the bike ... so can use even longer . for Saturday nite orchard bike ... hehehe

Because of the smaller engined M400, the exhaust sound is not as harsh as the bigger Monsters. This, together with the bassier nature of Carbon Fibre pipes, means the M400 with Carbon Fibre Termis is :thumb: I've compared it with many bigger bikes liao, I"m sure others here who've heard my bike would agree

My worries is, i've spend so much on a gal, rather use that $500 to go cruise or holidays with her, than paying LTA for her . But what i heard now is no longer $500 ... higher rite ? since Monz got 2 pipes

The 800cc 2-valve motor is a slightly bored out version of the old 750 engine, so its very different from the 600 engine.

 

Anyway, I think the original 900cc engine would fit into the frame. Someone even put a 999 engine into a Monster S4

minerva say no more stock i think. gotta wait for 2006 model. I asked last month but the one in their showroom is the 2003 model. then the salesman tried to sell me the "old monster 800" but i only got 2a and also have my m4 already.
