Gal_SG^Rider, I also keep wondering who you are until you mention the May issue... I used to know quite a number of quite high level people in SIA but have lost touch. From what I know, its true that they need min paper qualifications and I dun thk Os is sufficient...as for looks, they just need average looking but with ht of cos which you def qualify.

 

If I had known u some years back, will be able to intro you to them...

 

By the way, I duno whether do you know who am I =p we last met at the condo BBQ, 1st met under the "bridge"

I believe that if you are able to give politically correct answers and act politically correct during the interviews, you will be able to join, regardless of education ( From what I read at archers post, O levels also can. ).

yes but to even get into the interviews in the first place they will see your resume what qualification first ma.... what qualification do you think they will select first in that whole stack of applications?

Singaporean/ Malaysian Cabin Crew. (Residing in Singapore)

We will be conducting a recruitment exercise for Flight Stewardess/ Steward in Singapore. If you meet the following standards, we will be pleased to receive your application.

 

Requirements

Singapore or Malaysian citizenship

Females who are at least 1.58m; Males who are at least 1.65m in height

Degree/ Diploma

OR

At least 2 GCE ‘A’-level credits and 2 ‘O’-level credits including General Paper in the GCE ‘A’-level examination

OR

At least 5 GCE ‘O’-level credits including English and working experience

For Malaysian qualifications at SPM level, at least 5 credits including a minimum grade of B4 in English and working experience is required

Completed, are exempted from, or are not liable for National Service. Those in the process of completing NS may also apply.

Preference will be given to candidates who are able to speak foreign languages or are experienced in customer service. Interested applicants graduating by May 2009 may also apply.

conceit? i know i have wat it takes to be one... i only do not have the paper qualification thats all.. n i totally feel its unfair.. becoz since who says that having paper qualification means you make a good worker? it is proven that having higher EQ is beta than having higher IQ..

 

i have a fren who has been working as a cabin crew for abt 8yrs, some of her colleagues have poly diplomas or even degrees from local uni, according to my fren, those without paper qualifications often display better work performance than those with higher qualifications. many of these graduate crews (not all)tend to have this attitude of "have some fun for a few years while still young"... and SIA is aware of that.

 

the requirement of 5 'O' lvls is just a "formality" for selection if u ask me. think of it this way... if u possess certain values or skills which they r looking for, would they care if u have 1 or 10 'O' lvls?

 

having real skills such as fluency in a foreign language or rich experiences in hospitality industry are some values they are interested in and tats wat make a candidate stand out from the rest.

aniway, there is a way to "by-pass" this 5 'O' lvls requirement thing, im not talking abt pulling strings... pm me if u r interested to know.

I moved from Suntec foodcourt since 2008 to Lau Pa Sat already

Bloody hell no aircon, wipe until i sweat.

 

win some lose some but still win more so, things are quite alright.
