May i know what are the options available for bikes with COE expiring soon?

Change new bike? Buy Old Bike? Renew COE?

Someone please analyse and tell me which one is the best choice.

My income is about $1800 a month. Have some savings in the bank. What should i do?

For me if my bike is in good condition and need no further high cost repair, I will renew the COE, as loan will make you in debt all the time! Most ppl don't know the day you buy a new bike or car you already lost(Documentation fee, GST, Interest & Depreciation of a product), if you plan to sell it within 1 to 2 years! Unless your are a trader if COE suddenly goes up another 3 to 4k and you sell your bike immediately! If COE drop till 2 or 3K, no one want a second hand bike and you will lost even more, if you plan to sell it!

I overhaul my scooter just few months a go and change both the tire, seat cover and rear suspension and I spend almost 3K but I plan to renew COE of 6K+, why? Total I spend will be 9k and if COE really drop to 2K, I may consider scrap but if COE goes up I will still ride my scooter, which I think it will sure goes up. Another reasons is my model of scooter I had has stop coming out with a 200cc and I bought it at 1.5K which i had already enjoy 2.5 years riding. Recently I saw my neighbour bought a second hand 8 years balance COE Honda cub for 8.5K. that is already very costly.

After I renew my COE, maybe for the next 10 years if COE goes up to 10 or 15K, I will stop riding by then MRT is everywhere and I maybe semi retire from there!

Before taking the loan, do consider whether your job and monthly income is stable, next do you have extra buffer money for other expenses or sudden extra expenses that caught u unaware! If you can afford just go for new bike. Cheer!:cheeky::cheeky: Taking loan from anyone if you can't repay your monthly installment is interest + interest, don't forget you must pay the price for it, if you can't pay! like credit card:cry::cry::cry: They will sue you bankrupt or force to sell your house!

If im not mistaken. There is also a reserved price when you do the bidding.

For example at the start, i put my reserve bid as $5000. Once if it exceed the quota, my reserve price will be activate. Not sure how it work but here my theory.

For example there are 5 quota

1st bidder put in reserve price as $3000

2nd bidder put in reserve price as $500

3rd bidder put in reserve price as $1000

4th bidder put in reserve price as $200

5th bidder put in reserve price as $10,000

Now since the bidder and quota match it will be still $1.

The 6th bidder comes in and upset the system. He put in reserve price of $1500 and it trigger the coe to jump to $201 as the lowest reserve price is $200 and kick out 4th bidder. Now 4th bidder piss off and rebid but this time round instead of putting in reserve price he bid $3500 straight away thus new coe become $3500 and kick out 2nd bidder.

2nd bidder not happy comes in with reserve price of $5500 and coe will become $3501 if no others bid back at the same time kick out 3rd bidder.

Well thats my theory. On who set high reserve price, you can guess at your own imagination

Yes it works this way. Simple for dealers, for every bidding, they would just key in maybe 100 bids of $6000, the system will auto kick out those not within the quota. They have no qualm in bidding as high as they could, because every COE is sale. As long buyer or selling price include COE.

So if buyer don't self bid, this is what we get. Of course this will need the power of bike community rather than individual.

I don't think individual buyer will start to put 6k as reserve price. Of course this is only my hypothesis. Hopefully the market will exhaust the number of new bike owners, I already start seeing less 2B new bikes. I still got 13 months to go. Hopefully the anticipated recession will come in 2016.

Bro my advise dun wait too long monitor closely if you need to renew your COE earlier just heart pain a bit go for it or it may push up to 7 or 8K by a few more months. Most of them said recession coming this year now said next year but how far is true. No one know?? The market is already down as you can see from the share market and Europe market is in trouble but every countries leaders is still trying to support it to make sure it don't slump! Hope your hope will come soon!

OMG... the COE price we see in the live bidding system is actually the lowest bidding price after the quota reached.

I always thought we will see the highest price.

That means there are bids higher than $6302. Maybe $6400, $6505 or even $6888.

If 3 different bidders' reserved price are the same, which bidder will be kicked out?

If not mistaken those who bid last.

Or my suspect is that all 3 never get thats why sometime you can see number of unused coe that will be brought forward to the next round of exercise

I always believe in patient. Still got time in fact 13 months, I am still thinking whether to renew or just scrap it, nowadays lots of good buy, saw one 08 1098S for 14k and a GSXR750K9 10k. Hmm..

I am quite hopeful for the next recession. 88,97,08, almost every 10 years it will reset.

But it seem like hard to weeds out those who cannot afford, companies come out with installment plan for renew COE, buyback, lease and etc.

This is not good, pushing the already high COE even higher.

Recession was every 12 years. 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009 (it so happen the pozie scheme was expose earlier) so probably next recession suppose to be 2021.

You want to see the world in total choas. China just slam their doors shut.

Technically we are suppose in recession when economy growth slowed down.

Another thing to look out for whether the economy out look is good or bad, see the banks rate.

If bank offer high interest for saving means economy is good as they need more money to invest.

If they give interest like really cmi, mean economy not going.well they want you to spend money in order for economy to move.

Time to use my bicycle. Well I am still hoping but with companies coming up with all sorts of lease, buy back and installment schemes. I wonder how much can it goes up.

You also not in the supervisory role like me? What to do? Some people can afford and do not mind extending their debts. I rather not tho. But that is just me.

Same lah, also not in supervisory role as there is no one under me. I am also the dont have debt except house...

What to do , i just dont have money to let people earn interests so carry on riding my old bike.

People made a choice to stretch their finance. When ones have problem or find it tough to service, blame on gov, COE, rich people, people ride cl2 and etc but except themselves.

Private companies tries to entice people to buy by stretching the loan. All 19 bikes I have owned were all 2nd hand. I am looking at my 20th choice.

1) Taking high loan is a personal choice. No one force you to take it.

2) Old bikes are cheaper

3) Again. Old bikes got lots of problems, well is a choice also since you precept this way.

Its not a theory, it is exactly what the system are exactly. You figured it and explained it yourself already.

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.
