how often do you use your bike?

if you seldom ride, lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO 4) battery might be a good choice. it on the expensive side. alternative, you can hook it up with a battery charger.

if you ride your bike often yet it still go flat, get your charging system tested.

I ride everyday. Did asked a bike shop, they said, it's normal that battery only last for abt a year. Hmm... Not so convince leh

The standard manufacturer batt of your bike shld be the best, most likely Yuasa .. Do note of different types of Yuasa, u get what you pay for..

For aftermarket batt, there's a number in the market, motobatt is worth trying cheap n can last almost 2 yrs..

Hmmm.. Now kinda dilema when you have to choose between two.

LiFePO 4 or LITHIUM ION.

Anyone had use these could help me decided.

I used Shorai (its a lithium battery like "Ballistic") on my DR before.

The performance was better than any Yuasa battery I used. Never went back to using the default Yuasa lead batteries.

My apology to TS for side track.

Is the Ctek battery charger suitable to charge the LiFePO 4 and LITHIUM ION battery or the Ctek is suitable for those Yuasa ones?

Did some search..

Lithium Ion Batt - $220

Shorai Batt - $220

Lifepo 4 Batt - $360

Yuasa Lead Batt YTX9-BS - $150.

Which is good? hmm...

Looking at your batt size,

1) Why not change it to YTZ10S instead, a bit higher Ah

2) Do you do a lot of short distance riding everyday?

3) Multiple cranking per day?

If both is yes. Each time u crank, batt is being drained + short distance riding (insufficient charging due to lack of distance) = short battery lifespan.

Root of the problem is not the battery but your usage. So even if change to Lithium batt, you will still have d same problem.

Ctek normal charger is not suitable for Lithium type battery. they sell a dedicated lithium battery charger.

the 2nd one(CMO) is good. I've been using it for more than 1 year and still starts my bike at first crank despite 2weeks of not riding.

measure with a voltmeter.

Great video but at the end of it phew.. thats a lot of work ea..

The battery rating has nothing to do with frying wire or rectifier etc....

Read more on batteries.

No prob. The numbers, be it 12 or 14, refers to AH = ampere hour.

Your accessories wont fry. They will still draw the required amperage no matter what battery size you dump into your bike. Having a larger battery will only mean you can have more accessories installed.

Good luck!
