Finally took the V up north for it's first Xplor ride to Malacca.

GPS corrected max speed 181kph with RPM at 8600

Bike was stable throughout but accelaration power after slow down by traffic is lacking or soft so to speak.

This is expected as the V is a 650 parallel twin, pretty happy with it overall.

Location/ Time/Condition:NSHW / Late morning to early afternoon / Clear with minimal wind

Engine/Exhaust/Wheels & Tyres: Original

Add on/ Adjustment:44T rear sprocket, Front preload 10 turn out from max, Rear preload at #4

Bike loadings: 2 X Givi V35 side panniers, 1 X Alu Touratech top box, Tall windshield, Barkbuster hand guard.

Upzzz for all V riders

anyone to share what's the insurance cost for having Kawa Versys?

Posted
O than mine maybe from Thailand. I am wondering how many Versys are there in SG…? I hardly seen one except my neighbour's bike

hee bro your neighbour has 2x Versys . One green, one black.

Btw , I have a simple mod to make your Versys more comfort.( not to slide you butt forward) at a small fee. 1xalu plate, 2x ss bolt and a few washer include installation too. for only a small fee.

Two pcs ngk iridium plug for sale too( brought 4/packet)

I had done 194kph without any loading.

My weight at 80kg.

Bike was stable no encounter of any headshake.

I believe with 44t rear spocket might help to reach 200kph.

Michael can confirm your 194kph is indicated speed on bike meter or measured GPS speed?

Maybe can squeeze a little more speed if i rode the bike clean without handguard & panniers cos i weight abt 80kg too.

Ben no worries the RSAF need alot of AFEs and all the best to you.

The Air Force will take you to many places.

Cheers

Hi desmond,

Speed measured by bike meter.

I understand the current gear ratio has a speedo error .

In versys forum one of the member tried a 16t counter spocket which help to reduce speedo error to 1%

when u do 181kph what is the speed shown on your GPS?

Posted

GPS was indicating 180/181kph with bike meter reading 183/184kph.

I agree with the Versys forum...very good info are available wrt our Versys.

Standard original gear ratio of 15/46 will give the versys a bike speedo meter over read error of abt 7%.

By changing either the front to 16T or the back to 44T will correct the bike speedo meter over read to abt 1%.

Beside this, it also made 1st gear more useable and 6th gear at fast cruising speed more relax.

Anyway have seen a Youtube clip about a 2009 Standard Versys doing 212kph with engine RPM at 9700 on bike meter.

Most comment posted wrt to clip do not believe its a standard Versys.

I think the owner may have use some engine/gear ratios parts from the Ninja 650R.

Hey guys, recently encountered a problem on versys. When accelerating on 2nd gear, it slips to neutral automatically. So far 18000+ km on the meter. Anyone experience this?
