Noticed immediately smoother, less whinning noise from drive assembly(Sprocket & Chain).

No more searching for the 7th gear, instead sometimes in 5th and did not realise there is another gear up for 6th.

Overall less frantic acceleration, more useable power delivery.

For me personally have to agree with the thread in Kawasaki Versys Forum wrt the 44T rear sprocket change is the ticket to transform your Versys.:thumb:

Hi SB,

How does the Versys compares to the R1200GS?

Tempted to get another bike added to the stable...

Slow down abit, smell the air and enjoy the scenery.

Caught the touring bug once again!

Hi SB,

The immediate different between the V and the GSA is the shear size especially when you come off the GS and ride the V.

Once the engine is started you will notice the sound and the smoothness of the Jap engine over the GSA.

On the move both bikes are smooth and the GSA have a smoother neutral steering which make cornering ability easier & faster.

I guess this is probably due to the Paralever design suspension set up at the front of the GSA.

The V gearbox need more effort to change up & down while the GSA is smooth and effortless.

The Versys have a pretty good smooth low to mid engine power with a decent top speed for a 650 parallel twin.

Fuel consumption consistently abt 21/22km per liter in stop/go plus expressway traffic with 44T rear sproket.

Bike physical size and weight is perfect for city and touring if constant fast speed above 180kph is not your top priority.

Bike handling/stability wise is good due to the short wheelbase and weight.

Reasonable to buy and maintain in term of co$t.

You can get the Versys spares in Thailand or Malaysia.

Oil filter cost abt $15 in Thai, Singapore maybe abt $23 fr bikeshop

Clutch cable cost $11 in Thai, Singapore $41 w/o GST fr Evershine

There are 3 flaws:

1. The original setting of the front and rear suspensions need adjustment to further improve the ride quality.

2. The original default Dunlop tyres fitted to the bike are useless, change them asap if u can.

3. There is this buzz coming from the bike cockpit and front console area.

For touring duties up to Thailand, still prefer the GSA.

Unless some of my kaki's on the tour ride their V's than can have fun ride together.

Cheers

Wat i heard from ppl is certain bike uses 1 side to control damping for e front end

If have 2 den e person nvr set properly den the front end will have diff setting den more jialat

The only reason is cost savings. If you are not a very aggressive rider and within the "normal" biker weight than this set up is ok. Set one side the other side is forced to follow. That's all.

Both should be able to adjust preload. The single adjustment should be for rebound damping and no adjustability for compression damping.

Hi everyone,

I notice my front suspension only the right suspension can adjust the damping and preload. The left suspension can adjust preload ONLY

Is this normal...?

Agreed with Kaoiwas abt the cost saving and the Versys above basic suspension setup are engineered as adequate for it's intended purpose.

Rebound damping is the Rate of control during the extension of the suspension.

Compression damping is the Rate of control when the suspension compresses.

Not to forget that the bike suspension is always working to stabilise the bike during braking, cornering & when you are accelerating or decelerating.

Main purpose is to stabilise and return control of the bike in the shortest time possible.

Got a V rider who is trying to buy and install the internal's and external's of the Right side and fit it to the LH side to his bike.

Should be able to achieve better suspension control.
