Recently, i went around to check out some riding boots for my everyday use. Previously, i was using goretex touring boots, well it works well during rain but intend to heat up during the hot weather and basically restrict your ankle movement, and that can cause a bit of discomfort. So i decided to go on a shop crawl session to check out the availibility and the price of goretex boots. my range was about $200 to $250 and i was quite surprised that goretex shoes aren't that cheap and it's not even under that range of affordability. in other words, My goodness it's expensive! U might get surprised to hear that, if you order a tracking goretex boots thru the net, it's is so much cheaper and guess what, it's inclusive of shipping too!! And it works just as well as a riding boots since it comes with steel toe and some isn't. there's a brand of boots which are quite good called the Hi-tech is claimed to be waterproof and it's around $109-$149. I tried it out, it's quite comfortable n looks right but i thought i might just check out others 1st b4 i jumped into this one.

I've checked out some brands like, alpinestars, puma, sidi, timberland and some dry-tech quality boots aswell (they aren't cheap too).

As you know, goretex is basically the only durable waterproof material invented at this stage and that is why it isn't cheap here but vice versa in the US. and some europe countries goretex are not allowed in because the licence to bring in goretex material goods are yet to be approved. Sounds unbelievable but it's true.

Lastly, I went to this shop at 109 Jalan Besar where they bring in Oxtar boots, i was quite surprised to see the brand since recently Alpinestars sued Oxtar for using the star logo in the brand name. and alpinestars won the case and therefore, oxtar had to recall their items back and change them into TCXBoots which will be their new brand name. but i was wrong, they don't have to do that, infact, it's only applicable to new items released. So basically, oxtar is still alive and doing good. I've always liked oxtar since their finishing quality is amazing. oh and yes, their boots do come in goretex and finally, the oxtar jupiter filled my field of choice. it was in the range of my expence and gave the comfort and above all it's an everyday riding boots.

a Great buy and affordable.

I guess, the most important thing is customer service and how they represent the range of brands to their customer, giving them the power to buy and pleasure of testing in a comfortable environment.

So, those of you, interested in some good range of goretex boots at an affordable price do try this one out. i'm sure u won't regret, i didn't.

My goodness, i was shocked to have read the posts. I didn't know they were that bad especially the ones with the twin brothers at the main branch.

But lets look a little deeper here, I guess individual preference comes in the way at this level of choice. If you read more complain posts, almost, i think all of the shops has been rated bad, terrible or even worst. for an example, to a person a cup of soup could be a drain of hell but to others it would be the pure holy water.

In my intense search of goretex boots, i went to several shops all about, to all the famous motorcycle shops that sells apparels and accessories and even shopping centres for some trekking boots starting from A to Z.

So far, i guess service wasn't a problem, all of them served me at an expected level. And obviously, it's a 1st come 1st serve basis and that's how it should be, regardless of race and I'm sure most of the shops do that. They(the seller) might sometimes forget due to exhaustion, too many customes and as i look at these things, oh of course, there are just limited workers to entertain and that is not wrong at all. I would wait or better still, come in much better time and day.

My search started during the day where not many customes could be found at any of the shops so it was quite easy for me to browse through and have a look at the items.

But anyways, If these ungrateful things occur, I think the best way would be is to tell the salesperson that he is beig unfriendly. tell the truth and tell how you feel in a good mannered way and you'll be surprise that the effort will not go to waste.

Low services = better bargains. Take it the positive way and Go for it. at the end of the day, it's all worth the hard earned penny spent.

You can get Oxtar at other places. I got my TCS Sport which i use everyday, keeps my feet dry in the heaviest downpours, the sole is pretty lasting (much better than cheaper brands like Forma, Sigma etc), for $280 from HKL.
