hi,

got this reply from LTA on motard modification:

"We would like to inform you that the Land Transport Authority (LTA)

requires all vehicles registered for use on the road to be fitted with rims

and tyres according to the specifications recommended by the vehicle

manufacturers. To do otherwise would compromise the safety of the

vehicle, thus posing a danger to the rider and other road users.

We have allowed some motorcycles to be fitted with motard rims and tyres as

the motorcycle manufacturer has certified that these changes comply

with international recognised safety standards and are suitable for use on

that particular make and model of motorcycle. To date, we have allowed 7

KTM models (i.e. 200EXC, 250EXC, 300EXC, 400EXC, 525 EXC, 400EGS and

620EGS) and 2 Husqvarna models (i.e. TE250 and TE510) submitted to us through the local authorised agents (i.e. KTM - Dirt Wheel Motor & Credit Pte Ltd and Husqvarna - Cyclenet Pte Ltd) to be fitted with motard wheels.

Therefore, you may wish to approach them directly for more details.

Nevertheless, for models of motorcycle which are yet to be evaluated,

you may submit the following documents (in English) for the aftermarket

rims and tyres for our evaluation:

a) Certification from the vehicle manufacturer stating that the rims and

tyres fitted on your motorcycle (make and model) are of the correct

width, profile and diameter and are suitable for use on your vehicle ; and

b) Evidence or test reports to show that the rims and tyres meet

internationally recognised safety standards.

You can forward these documents to the Vehicle Engineering Division of

LTA at 10 Sin Ming Drive, Singapore 575701.

After we have given an in-principle approval, you may proceed to

retrofit your motorcycle with the motard rims and tyres. After conversion, you would be required to submit the following information through VITAS

under application of "Change of Vehicle Particulars (with VE approval)" with the following:

a) Bill of sale or invoice for the rims and tyres;

b) Owner application letter and authorised letter; and

c) Vehicle registration documents (e.g. vehicle log card)

Upon completion of your application, you would be required to present

your motorcycle that is fitted with the motard rims and tyres to any of the

LTA-authorised Vehicle Inspection Centre (i.e. STA, JIC or VICOM) for

an inspection. (Note: the inspection centre will charge a fee of $50/-

(exclusive of GST) for such a service). Approval would only be

granted, subject to the vehicle passing the inspection."

Hope it helps.
