This is kind of very rare bike, only people very passionate about vintage look will buy it, thats why unlikely to find second hand. This bike didnt come too long ago, UM started bringing in only after 2005-06 I guess so definitely not scrapped.

If this bike was in the 2B category, then for sure it would have become very popular,especially among Indian expats, just like pulsar has become, but unfortunately it is class 2A/2 and most Indian expats just convert their license to 2B and happy to just stay in the same class.

Last month UM got a 2nd hand machismo 350cc for sale..but very fast sold ready, didnt get a chance to view..price ard 5.8k i think.. Since marco bought 5.5k in 2007, price seems to be stable..

 

Luckily, i managed to buy one from a private seller..

So far, its like what been said earlier..fc is quite good but cons is it cant go fast..

I find the pick up abit slow and lack power in lower gears but once ur cruising at highest gear, Bike is smooth..

so overall its just a point A to B bike with style and looks..

I am riding a 500 carb version. It seems both bikes are roughly the same so I will just input my 2 cents.

 

Bike is slow but stable. My speedo shows 100kmh but I notice the cars I passed only shows 80+ on their speedo (go figure...)

Gearing is very tolerant (you can do 20kmh in 4th and the bike will not stall)

My 500 gets me 29km/l. I am very satisfied with the FC.

Overheating is never a problem as long as it is moving. Start-stop traffic, not so good. Once it gets hot, changing gears get rough but it will still move. Anyway, this is Singapore, jams for bike is rare unless at Woodlands custom. When I get stuck there; I will just off the engine, sit on the bike and use my legs to waddle along.

Only complain I have is the clutch cable. That piece of string just love to snap! Finding ways now to custom make a heavy duty version. Of my 3years+ ownership, I have the cable snapping on me 4 times! Works out to be some kind of anniversary event for me and my bike... baskteball. Changing the cable is a 30 minutes affair if you have a pair of needle nose pliers, spanner, Philip screw driver and proper lighting. To be fair, you can actually feel the snap coming days in advance so it is not a sudden affair.

I used to travel Woodlands to Orchard 6 days a week with no problem. Bike just ride on with no complaint except the clutch cable. But it is slow. Going to work is ok cause you just enjoy the ride. Coming home can be annoying because you would just want to go home and the bike is just not speeding along fast enough.

Lastly, the bike vibrates. I mean it really vibrates! Especially if you go above 100kmh on the speedo! Is a real Catch-21 situation when you need to go somewhere quick to pee. Because going fast makes more vibration which makes you want to pee more...

Drop by UM on 7sept didn't c e cafe racer but got 1 black classic 500 on sale. New classic 350 going for S$10.9k. Ask bout e metal sidebox. Guy says not in production anymore, damn man e sidebox really

looks good.
